Did you get your mummy to help you come up with all this pro EUSSR bullshit You hinted strongly in your OP that you had a little food-for-love scheme planned for tonight (nudge, nudge, wink, wink). How did that go, Jonksy? It doesn't appear to have improved your mood. Did someone cry off with a headache?

I am in a good mood when I talk to adults But watch my mood change when I have to talk to total idiots.

We have to unravel the mystery of these phantom tariffs UK fishermen supposedly paid before we move on to your next invention, Jonsky.

We have to unravel the mystery of these phantom tariffs UK fishermen paid to their own government before we move on to your next invention, Jonsky. Nothing phantom about it sonny Jim. Like I stated a 10 year old could work out. Come back when you have the answer, but until then post your little pro EUSSR rants as they will fall on deaf ears from now on.

Maybe a link? Just a little good faith gesture to show you didn't make the whole thing up.

Moderation Statement
I have deleted several posts of cut and paste nonsense - either make an argument about the subject or move on.

Moderation Statement I have deleted several posts of cut and paste nonsense - either make an argument about the subject or move on. The point of the cut and paste list was to show that the effect on the scrumpy cottage industry was heavily outweighed by the negative effects of leaving the EU on other industries. The list was the argument.

If you knew the faintest thing about tariffs, you would know that your suggestion that there were tariffs on UK fish landed in UK. You are talking utter nonsense. Fish prices that in your OP had fallen 66% have now apparently risen and your own link discusses how Brexit was bad for the towns fishermen. Brigham fish market is well run and as your article explains is attracting business from other UK ports. Much of that business has diverted from Plymouth where the owners are deliberately running their market down as in the medium term they can make more money from the site from building flats than landing fish. Go spread your pro EUSSR bollocks somewhere else. You have proven you know jack shit on the subject. Interesting insight into the moderation of this site, Pacifico. You deleted a long but factual list of issues with Brxit (I agree just a cut and paste and far too long) but were happy to leave this post which is just puerile embarrassing abuse. Is this to be the standard of posting this site desires?? Our Jonksy appears to be the stereotypical Brexiteer. There are no doubt some arguments in favour of Brexit and some against - people could fairly come down on either side - and some perfectly sensible informed people who did believe in brexit. Jonksy though is not one of those. Nonsensical "facts", followed by shouting and abuse, all accompanied no doubt by an ever more burgundy visage. Hard not to laugh.

And I do not shout or use abuse BTW. I just get sick of dealing with kids. Those who are making the most noise in the fishing industry are the exporters who now find the petulant EUSSR are up to their usual tricks. I know first hand on this as one of my shooting buddies is Ian Perkes who is one of the prominent and large exporters........ Before Brexit that levy was paid at the quayside as it was a direct purchase before the fish made it to the proper outlet markets or distributors. Now all we do is pay the going rate which alters daily at the quayside as the fish are landed. Why do you think many of the restaurants, hotels and caterers all over the UK were paying agents to purchase form the quaysides?
Levy is also due from any UK registered fishing vessel owner, fish and shellfish farmer, grower or cultivator who lands product in the United Kingdom for subsequent sale direct to a foreign customer.

You don't use abuse??? Maybe re-read the thread.
So you were referring to the seafish levy?? Really?
What you claimed was an EU tariff imposed on UK fishermen landing fish in the UK amounting to 200% of value turns out to be the UK devised and legislated trade body levy of less than 1 pence per kilo designed to raise funds to support the fishing industry in the UK. The seafish levy you will have paid on the average lobster now and before we left the EU would amount to around 4p per lobster.
Do you not feel a little silly?

The Seafish levy is imposed by Seafish, which is 'a non-departmental public body (NDPB) set up as part of the Fisheries Act 1981 to support the seafood industry in the UK'. The Seafish levy is NOT and never has been an EU tariff.

To be fair, "darling", HAD the Seafish levy of around 4 pence per whole lobster been an EU tariff and HAD it been removed on leaving the EU, it would perhaps have been the most tangible benefit of leaving the EU so far identified

The EU's fishing fleet has been responsible for fish stock decline in the PACIFIC. The failure to ban super trawlers and the failure to limit the catch of EU fishing fleets has been one of the biggest environmental catastrophes the EU has caused so far.
