No they don't, their parents pay for bars of chocolate. So if you don’t work for your money then the money is not yours eh? Tell benefit recipients. If money is given to children the money is theirs . When they do end that money on certain goods they pay tax . Stop squirming . |

Was it a very loud uproar? The voting age should be no lower than 18. There are already too many conflicts in permission ages. They have just taken away the right to marry at 16. Why should people of that age then be allowed to vote? A lot of 16 year olds work do you think working people should not vote? They are supposed to be in 'education' until 18 Saturday jobs and apprenticeships for 16 year olds don't count as working people |

I notice in your thread title you call them children instead of young adults, which is what they are, is that for effect? Children conjures up images of 11,12 year olds or less. Most people on benefits have paid into the system through their taxes and pay taxes on what they by with that money. 16 year olds are eligible to pay taxes. |

It is typical for some people though to take and extreme point and attempt to compare it to a minor point such as voting, do you think porn in any form is a 'good' thing? It is very clear that people on the right expect people on the left to have yes or no answers to questions even when they are complex but do not do the same when asked a question. I do not believe 16 year olds should fly Jumbo jets, captain cargo ships or become armed officers in the police, either. You next point will, of course be 16 years olds are not experienced enough to fly a jumbo jet and I will agree. When you and I were young our information came from very few, local sources, if we wanted to know the answer to a question and nobody in our 'circle' knew the answer we would have to go to a library or museum. Nowadays young people have all the information they need at the touch of a button, they live in a vastly different world to the one we grew up in. Smart phones, internet and such are now necessities not luxuries. Well informed people can make choices. |
