That's because luckily so few people are stupid enough to follow Red's lead. Still doesn't make his thread title or his 'he was already convicted' false story anything other than stupid. I don't normally respond to you because you IMO just ramble on and do not understand what you are talking about , you claim prejudging when I think you actually mean prejudicing a trail that has not even been listed for hearing yet. Nothing Red has stated , nor anyone else in here or right across the Media and Social Media can possibly interfere with the due process of Law I did ask you a question to explain what could possibly effect this man case , and you did not answer even I can work out why, Back on ignore again, you have nothing to say worth listening to.

So Handyman thinks trials have never been stopped because of social media idiocies. Well he's wrong

Apologies for bumping my own thread, but I just heard that Daniel Khalife has pleaded 'not guilty' to escaping from HMP Wandsworth! Former British Army soldier Daniel Khalife has pleaded not guilty to escaping custody at HMP Wandsworth in south London. The 21-year-old terror suspect made the plea in an appearance at the Old Bailey this morning. metro.co.uk/2023/09/21/daniel-khalife-pleads-not-guilty-to-escaping-from-prison-19535028/It makes me wonder whether he is receiving legal advice.

Yes just heard it on the news, he will have been advised by his brief but appears to have ignored it, how on earth can he plead not guilty on a charge of escaping from Lawful Custody unless he likes the limelight

So far all its got him is a cell in maximum security Belmarsh Prison he will not be allowed to work in the kitchens there, and probably banged up most of the time in a single cell

Dunno about that but on Arrse they reckon he’s a Walt terrorist and they’re comparing him to Lenny Godber Maybe they’re right and he lives in a world of his own,the not guilty plea suggests that’s more than possible.

If he pled guilty he would become a convicted prisoner, he would lose his rights as a remand prisoner. He's not daft. If he fails to be convicted of the primary offence, he could claim he was unlawfully imprisoned and his escape charge would dissolve!

As an aside...
Some years ago I knew someone who after leaving the army became an armed bank robber. [I'm quite serious btw] He was inevitably caught and sentenced to eight years in HMP Winchester, and promptly escaped. He was caught at Dover attempting to cross the channel. He was charged with escaping from prison and in court he pleaded guilty. Because he pleaded guilty and committed no crimes while on the run his origional eight year sentence was not increased. But, and this is the kicker, because he escaped he lost any remission. In other words he spent every single day of that eight year sentence in prison.

A very valid point indeed I agree either he or his Defence Brief is on the ball, I wonder if they will try him separately on the escape charge or tag it onto the more serious charges he is accused of, if they do and if found guilty on those charges he could get a very long time inside, if that does happen the Court may not even proceed with the escape matter at all just leave it on file

I’m sure he’s got the right to plead not guilty but it seems a little … wierd Yes it is the accused right to plead how they wish guilty or not guilty , in fact they don't have to say anything if they do not enter a plea the Court will automatically enter a Not Guilty plea on their behalf and the trial will begin.

I understand it’s his right to do so but i overlooked the fact he was on remand. By pleading not guilty he remains a remand prisoner with slightly more privileges than a convict and of course every day spent on remand counts as time served from tbe sentence. Not sure what happens if you’re banged up on temand and found NOT guilty. Credit for your next offence oerhaps 😂😂
