Well on the Brightside the Victorian schools they didn't knock down in the never ending chase of progress, are still standing still being used and will be open, lol Number of schools at risk from deadly crumbly concrete is ' GROWING all the time' - but officials refuse to give parents a list: At least 700,000 pupils are already affected - as fury at government's chaotic 11th-hour order to shut buildings grows Parents vent fury as buildings made of poor quality concrete ordered to close
The Government's list of schools that are potentially falling apart after being built with poor quality concrete is growing all the time, MailOnline understands, after an order to shutter over 100 school buildings days before term left parents scrambling to make last-minute arrangements.
Families have vented their fury after the Department for Education (DfE) told 104 schools to close buildings made using reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) - a material widely used in the second half of the 20th century with a lifespan of 30 years and a texture similar to the inside of an Aero chocolate bar.
A total of 104 schools have been instructed to keep buildings shut if they are made with a type of concrete that is prone to collapse, the government announced this afternoon
A report in June warned that more than 400 other schools could be harbouring the material and 700,000 pupils are learning in schools needing 'major rebuilding' - as it emerged that other public buildings like hospitals and courts are also at risk of falling apart.
The DfE did not publish a list of affected schools on Thursday, and a spokesperson told MailOnline today that it had no plans to do so, citing 'operational' reasons.
A 'minority' of schools will have to 'either fully or partially relocate' to new accommodation while safety measures are installed, according to the department.

This is going to be huge. An urgent warning letter was sent to schools and larger public buildings in 2018. Some have already taken steps to make them safe, but many have done nothing. Schools are strapped for cash. The whole country is strapped for cash! I swear we are slowly turning into a second world country.

I think this has been allowed to happen for far too long zany and some schools and buildings have gone past the stage of where repairs can be carried out and demolition is the only answer and the less costly action. Either way this is going to cost billions which the UK no longer have to rectify.

Oh I dont know - its just a matter of priorities.
We have £7 Billion a year spent on illegal migrants - £150 Billion spent on HS2 - £50 Billion a year on Net Zero..etc..
There is plenty of money - what you spend it on is the question.

Fitting metaphor for Tory government...full of air and crumbling before our eyes.
I am still waiting for the 40 new hospitals.
New homes can now be built without bothering about water pollution.
Uncontrolled release of raw sewage into public water facilities.
I'd call that a zombie government.

Going to be interesting to see how many of those schools were the largely self run 'academies' the Tories so love. Would it be surprising to see them trying to ignore a building scandal perpetrated largely under the Thatcher and Major administrations? But then this latest iteration of Conservative governments also showed a wilful abandonment of its responsibilities to regulate the building sector too. What's that phrase, 'suffer the little children' ? They seem to have thought that was a great idea.

I was listening to a report in this topic on BBC Radio Four's PM programme, and a spokesperson from the Local Educution Authorities stated that one third of all school buildings are beyond their time for either repair or replacement.
This is a truly shocking state of affairs and testement of years of neglect and underfunding
IF Labour do win next years general election, its going to be very tough financially and fiscally, and things which need to be done will have to be priorotised.
For 13 years the Mega corporations, multi nationals and huge profit makers have "Got Off" and been let off the hook, and a good example of this has been this weeks bonkers announcement that construction firms will no longer need to offset water polution caused by house building.
Umberella organisations operating multi acadamies and making a fortune will be praying that the Conservatives can still win next year, as will the poluters and profiteers.

Only fools think ‘ suffer the children ‘ aludes to children suffering ..we shouldnt suffer fools gladly . Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Let - The word translated as "Suffer" primarily means "to let go" or "to pass by." This same word is usually translated as "leave," "forgive," "suffer," and "let" in the New Testament. christswords.com/main/content/mar-1014-suffer-little-children-come-unto-me#:~:text=NIV%20Analysis%3A-,Let%20the%20little%20children%20come%20to%20me%2C%20and%20do%20not,let%22%20in%20the%20New%20Testament.
