Wales football team consider name change after the World Cup
Informal discussions have already been held with UEFA on the subject
Wales will consider changing its name to Cymru on the international stage after the World Cup.
Cymru - the Welsh name for Wales - is already used by the Football Association of Wales in its internal and external communications and by staff at the governing body's headquarters in the Vale of Glamorgan.
The FAW plans to speak to various stakeholders in Welsh football about the merit of changing the country's name in international competition, while the PA news agency can reveal informal discussions have already been held with UEFA on the subject.

I like it. Think its a great idea. Perhaps Scotland should follow and change to our native Alba as well?

Or perhaps just scrap the England Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland teams and have a team GB like we do at the Olympics and bring together the best players from all four parts of our united sovereign country?

I absolutely would.
The UK is a sovereign country. We shouldn't be fielding four teams when even the USA, which has 50 states, only fields one, in any international it takes part in.

Let us not get carried away with ourselves. Suppose that sort of thing spread to the rugby? The only reason the Forestry Commission exists north of the border is to keep the Scottish wooden spoon manufacturers in raw material.

Would make the Six Nations rugby pretty crap. We'd just have to invent a new competition and invite the New Zealand All Blacks to take part.

I like it. Think its a great idea. Perhaps Scotland should follow and change to our native Alba as well? Arguable But it all sounds like a political gesture rather than a reflection of what their supporters want. And IIRC FIFA take a dim view of mixing politics with football (and rightly so)

Not sure i understand how?

And IIRC FIFA take a dim view of mixing politics with football (and rightly so) People calling their own countries name in their own native languages is a political gesture? Not sure i understand how? because it's a minority language in Wales so clearly someone is trying to force an agenda to make it the default

And IIRC FIFA take a dim view of mixing politics with football (and rightly so) Except BLM and taking the knee..................... FIFA has never endorsed any of the various BLM groups. Taking the knee at football was and is an action in protest of the sad neanderthals that like to throw racist abuse at non white footballers
