you obviously didnt read my post. john stephenson was born in leytonstone london englandshire , but despite being born in a stable , he wasnt a horse , and that didnt stop him becoming irish by nationality , changing his name to sean mac stiofain , and becoming the IRAs chief of staff.

buccy , ive educated pacifico on the concept of nationality and it being a mindset. Blair sees himself as british by nationality.
Moving on though , we scottish didnt elect him. He was elected in your country , and represented an english constituency while joining your labour party in his time in london.
One day , the english will take responsibility for themselves and their politicians. When that day dawns , then you will be on the first step of the path to repair the damage done to your country by the british.
until then , we all just have to learn to laugh at it was the jocks , taffs paddies euroepans etc etc what done it schtick.

I think us Britons (is that the word i should use?) should try to put the English-Scottish sibling rivalry to one side to see what really happened in this case. (Blair is a rather important mistake that should be analysed dispassionately)
Was the election and empowerment of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown more due to a flaw in the English national character than the Scottish national character? Unfortunately, I think the answer has to be yes. On the other hand, the Scottish are not entirely clear of blame either. They voted Labour robotically for years to avoid economics (a discipline they ironically more or less invented), but i don't think they fell in love with Blair in the same way the English did.
On the other side of the English Vs Scottish balance, we have the SNP, which seems to be an entirely Scottish mess and due in large part to flaws in the Scottish national character

As we know, it all has to do with what point Bubbles and others are trying to make. Reality and history shift dramatically according to how much they want to make an argument.
It is all part of the dishonesty that runs through this forum like a stick of Blackpool rock.
There is merit in mentioning different interpretations of reality but shame in creating a reality that doesnt exist merely to make an argument.

I never said tony wasnt born in edinburgh , i never said tony was english , but that he represented an english constituency.
I implied in my post tony was british , in terms of how he sees , and how you tell me you see nationality. He wasnt the prime minister of scotland mate.
Tony , as a british national , born in edinburgh , representing an english constituency and british political party , as british prime minister took bwitain to an illegal war.
