Two RNLI lifeboats arrived in Dover today with the last few dozen migrants needed to take the total number of arrivals over 100,000 since records began in January 2018. If anyone had predicted that at the time he would have been denounced as a raving lunatic. And yet.
Tory deputy chairman Lee Anderson is said to be 'very angry'. Who isn't?
Most people are angry, and getting angrier by the day. This monstrous abuse of antiquated laws must be stopped, and I think as the election gets ever closer the government will want to be seen to stop it. People don't want tough talk, they have had enough of that, they want action. You keep saying 'most', or similar, but offer nothing to back up your claim.

The tragedy is that 18 months ago I thought this cannot go on, here we are 18 months later and it is still going on, it will go on like this until the General Election next autumn and we will have another 100,000 by then and before anything is done, if anything is done, there will be another 100,000. There are about 5 million males in the UK aged between 18 and 39. This will increase males in that age bracket by about 7% with no co-responding increase in females. Most will settle in defined areas skewing the male population by a greater degree. Just on that fact alone we are storing up problems.

Couldn't agree more, I'm so disappointed that the government are not joining the dots. We are allowing tens of thousands of fighting age male Muslims into this country who will inevitably vote Labour, making a bad situation worse by the day. Lefties carp on about multiculturalism and diversity but it's a complete myth, as you correctly say minorities particularly Muslims do not integrate they create enclaves in which infidels are not welcome, and quite clearly some black 'communities' think they are above the law because the police have decriminalised shop lifting. This country is going to hell in a handcart. Todays politicians are low brow traitors, weak minority appeasing low brow traitors.

Since the beginning of 2018 the UK has received 227,000 claims for asylum, so obviously not all have arrived by small boat. Traditional routings are still in operation and sharing the load. So why is small boats the big story? They slip through holes in the border and people die.

Ah, lets just mix up immigration, authorised by the government, and desperate people crossing the channel to claim asylum. They are different things. 0% of the British people want people to take the dangerous journey across the channel to claim asylum for very different reasons.

The Tories should listen to voters and take Britain out of the ECHR SIR – If the Tories want to stay in power, Britain must leave the European Convention on Human Rights (report, August 10). Otherwise, I’m afraid the Labour Party will win, and we will have no hope of controlling our borders. Why won’t the Conservative Party listen to the country? Jim Riley Macclesfield, Cheshire SIR – Left-wing lawyers have thwarted every attempt to secure our borders by using current legislation to their advantage. If it is the laws of the land that are impeding us, change them. If the European Convention on Human Rights is the stumbling block, leave it. I think the French could easily deal with the small boats crisis through organised intelligence, but they clearly choose not to do so. We are a sovereign nation and we should take control. Mick Ferrie Mawnan Smith, Cornwall SIR – The ECHR is based on the idea that none of the signatories can be trusted to respect human rights when governing themselves; they are, however, competent to propose candidates for the Court to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Freedom House classifies two members of the Council of Europe, Turkey and Azerbaijan, as “not free” and several others as “partly free”.

Probably fair Dan. In this instance though, you would presumably agree that the Government and Farage and co have seized on the opportunities that photo opportunities in supportive tabloids have presented to stir up hatred against a group of people and thereby seek votes and power on the back of such hatred while diverting attention from the abject failure they are making of running the important public services in the country. Those photo opportunities would have been diminished and hence the asylum "issue" far less prevalent if the same number of people were arriving by less photogenic methods. Sounds like you want the photos cancelled and this information to go unreported, so it's easier to brush this issue under the carpet. Mind you, I can see why a Liberal Democrat would want to hush this kind of news up.

IF we are to leave the convention, then have a referendum.

You are being gaslighted the Tories will never take us out of the ECHR.
