My brother and I would usually get a Beano and a Topper annual at Christmas. Just thought I'd mention it, sniff... Luxury. I used to get an empty shoe box. Dad told me it was an Action Man deserter. The following Christmas we'd swap.

The Victor was instrumental in forming views and prejudices which have stood me in good stead for the past sixty years. Matt Braddock, Alf Tupper and many more working class heroes showed me that foreigners, aristocrats and senior officers were in the main vastly inferior to those brought up in council houses and the British were the most accomplished, plucky and trustworthy people in the world, (especially Europe). Who can argue with that? I remember Alf Tupper, a cross country runner who only ever ate fish & chips, lol... Probably a more accurate picture of someone with that diet

Nothing is sacred. If The Eagle was still going no doubt Dan and Digby would be in a relationship. Didn't they have green renegade friends...? No I don't think so if you're referring to the Treens who were green and hailed from Venus.
Col. Dare, as well as F/Sgt Digby and the rest of the team at Space Fleet Earth dedicated themselves to saving the planet from dusky hued invaders from Venus, especially their sinister leader The Mekon.

Maybe the Muslims will take it over. Dennis the menace will set gnasher on a different infidel every week. That would be tricky, I mean would outraged lefties actually put their head above the politically correct parapet and object? Or would they awkwardly look at their feet and change the subject. See grooming gangs. Muslims are leftie kryptonite and sustenance at the same time .

Beryl the Peril was from the Topper not the Beano. My brother and I would usually get a Beano and a Topper annual at Christmas. Just thought I'd mention it, sniff... I had older siblings and iirc we were given some old kids books . I had some going back to the forties . I used to get the a Buster comic delivered every week . Sometimes it had a gift in it , a sweet or even better , a cardboard thing that went bang !

I have to admit here I did read the Beano, but never understood these working class characters. I had never met a working class kid as a boy you see. Our friends houses all had heated swimming pools and the like. I was brought up in a different world. I suppose we did come across one or two in schools, but as for the northern lads that I guess you were familiar with, the first one of those I think I met at the age of 19. Northerners were too poor to live in our town. Now many years later I get these comics, but honestly I saw them as purely fictional. I had no idea they were based on real people.

Call it a sheltered upbringing if you like but do you suppose I should hide it or lie about it. I had no idea who or what a northerner was. Sure we got a few of the bolshy comedians on the TV, but still it was much like watching what goes on in Ethiopia. You'll never be there and don't see it as part of your reality. When I finally arrived at the place I got the shock of my life. The place was a shithole. I recall getting a train from Manchester to Bolton once. It looked like a scene from Blade Runner.

I had no idea what a northerner was (Until I went in the army) does that make me posh? You know nothing about people. I've known people from all backgrounds and in the environment we were in everyone was the same there was no posh or poor. With your attitude I doubt you would have survived for more than 20 minutes before someone filled you in.

Maybe neither? Just a thought. Basic English is a good idea, though. "mastibate"? It's when you chew with your penis. Might be easier with a bonus hole

Didn't know you could do satire and sarcasm, BvL. You should be on the stage. Sweeping up.
