I got Victor. They never let the Nazis win. Bloody woke... Victor was a little before my time, I'm afraid - although my brother (5 years older) had the annuals.. My own comic intake was a little more miserable. We could have a comic a week - but NOT American comics, because they were "trash". So I was treated to "Look and Learn", with its improving articles on James Watt or Dr Livingstone, and dreary cartoon serials ("Episode 130 of Michael Strogoff - Jules Verne's Stirring Tale of Tsarist Russia!"). The only highpoint was Frank Bellamy's beautiful artwork for "The Trigan Empire". Consequently, I would spend my pocket money on as many DC and Marvel comics as I could ingest..

I think you need to switch comic and subscribe to Viz. I can't see the Fat Slags going woke somehow, well not in the usual way anyway.

The Victor was instrumental in forming views and prejudices which have stood me in good stead for the past sixty years. Matt Braddock, Alf Tupper and many more working class heroes showed me that foreigners, aristocrats and senior officers were in the main vastly inferior to those brought up in council houses and the British were the most accomplished, plucky and trustworthy people in the world, (especially Europe). Who can argue with that?

Matt Braddock won the VC and Bar but never rose above the rank of sergeant. He epitomised our heroes by slaughtering Germans by the dozen, sinking U boats, aircraft carriers and battleships, bombing schools, care homes, hospitals and factories, he always overcame desperate odds and won through.
Should modern boys be given old copies of the Victor to read, or should they be taught how to mastibate and wear girls clothes in their schools?

The sensitivity readers would have a field day with the Victor, indeed with any boys comic from those unenlightened times. Even Rupert the Bear would be at risk of cancellation or at the very least seriously radical embedded authentication.

I have a traditional spell checker, doesn't do woke words unfortunately.

I had a Beano ( I think)annual from the 1950s when I was a little kid. The first cartoon story was called “ Ten little black people ‘ Each one of them came to a nasty end until there was none. I also remember that Beryl the peril always seemed to have her bottom smacked by her dad. Which wouldn’t go down well today. Times change . Give it a few years and the Beano will have a trans sex child with an empowered single mum who makes a living from ‘ only fans ‘.
