Enjoy your benefits. If you want to know what I'm enjoying, I'm enjoying my new decorating job. My kitchen has had a full makeover and indeed about half the house is totally immaculate decor-wise and it makes me smile, because it is all my own work and satisfying to achieve a result. The other thing is except for the VAT I have not paid the government any tax on the work I have done. It was almost 100% tax efficient. I hate to think I'm funding crazy nuts like yourself with my taxes. Nor do I much like the idea of converting my work into bombs for Ukraine. There is a limit to the piss the government can take with our money. |

No but getting someone else to do it and paying them would involve paying their tax if you prefer to think of it that way. Also you have to pay for their petrol and whatnot, vs with me I don't have to travel more than few paces to work. Besides, the last people to do it were complete cowboys. I'm patching up their mistakes. |

I'd have workhouses instead of benefits, for much the same reasons. Separated from the wife and kids, made to do pointless tasks 10 hours a day. Wonder why that didn't work out. |

Enjoy your benefits. I've never claimed benefits, but I've known what it is to be poor, I'm wealthy now and I consider myself lucky. I guess that you have either had an easy life and never experienced struggling to pay for food for your kids and keep a roof over your head. Or worse you have forgotten and think you are just better than those who struggle. |

A modern version could provide shelter, food, medical and mental health care, education and supervision.
Far better than kicking the disadvantaged out onto the streets with a few quid in their pockets.
