Well the way i look at it reddy , is you and your mate starmer are after my vote , and millions others like me. I dont know what labour and your mate starmer stand for , and what little i have seen of them , the numerous pledges they have dumped , the squirming when put on the spot , and the tired old we hate the tories despite working hand in glove with them , basically makes me think......nah........not only is it a defective car , but its a dodgy salesman selling it so not thanks. None of us will know what Starmer stands for until we see his manifesto but you dodged the question, would you continue with a 'policy promise' that would harm the electorate if the circumstances change. We all know the Tories will and are. sigh#
i have answered the question that you have chosen to conveniently forget.
A wise politician wouldnt make a promise he didnt know he couldnt 100 % keep. Especially key progressive policies that are suppoosed to be the backbone of your party.
If you do make the policy announcement , then aye , you have to keep the policy.
which tories? starmers red tories , or sunaks blue?

Well the circulation of The National has collapsed - it only sells about 3500 copies now. Are they dying because they dont reflect the views of the scottish public or is it just the case that the dead tree press have had their day - irrespective of their stance on any issue. The national figures havent collapsed pacifico. Oh come on - at its launch it had a circulation of over 60,000 - now its down to 3,500 That is a collapse in anyones book.

What's the point of debating with a faux phoney, you haven't answered a question honestly in the entirety of the forum, you just goad and bait, that's not being honest that's being dishonest, you've reached the pinnacle of your faux phoney dishonesty, even when posters agree with you, you still have to disagree with them ... it's you MO That's the point you said you want nothing that i want and yet you will not answer a simple question and then call me a phoney because you tripped yourself up. if anyone's a phoney it's you. A simple question from a simpleton, what was your question?, because you talk in riddles.

Knowing you can keep a promise one day is subject to circumstances remaining the same, if circumstances change actions have to change. There is only one set of Tories in government.

The national figures havent collapsed pacifico. Oh come on - at its launch it had a circulation of over 60,000 - now its down to 3,500 That is a collapse in anyones book. no it didnt ya wee fibber pacifico. Its initial print run was 60 000 copies mate , not the daily circulation. Two months after it first appeared , its daily sales were sustained at around 15 000 copies , then that halved the following year.
The figures for a new paper have never really been that great , and they havent collapsed anything like the redcoats sales.
Tell me though were are all the unionists pacifico?
As the dead tree press withers , the most read online scottish politics site is wings , a nationlist site.
On top of that , poll after poll is showing a majority and growing for scot indy .
i can see why you are in a lather over a new papers struggle to survive.
What the pro union vote in scotland? twenty years ago , barely 20 % supported scot indy. Today its 52 % and climbing.....thats a unionist collapse in anyones book.......
Should Scotland be an independent country? (Find Out Now, 13th-20th June 2023) Yes 47.9% No 45.0%
I can't find the figures with Don't Knows excluded, but a rough recalculation suggests Yes may just about make it to 52% when rounded to the nearest whole number.

We have discussed this. Dont make a promise you cant keep , and of you do , honour it. Ask nick clegg about tuition fees.
Labour have now u-turned on:
🇪🇺 Brexit 🎓 Tuition Fees 🏠 Rent Controls 🗳️ Electoral reform 🍎 Free School Meals 💷 Public Sector Pay

LOL - you couldn't be more wrong.. My beef with the Indy campaign is that all they do is talk (for almost 90 years now) - they dont actually get on and do it.

Labour have now u-turned on: 🇪🇺 Brexit 🎓 Tuition Fees 🏠 Rent Controls 🗳️ Electoral reform 🍎 Free School Meals 💷 Public Sector Pay 📢 @mhairiblack : "Under Keir Starmer, the sad reality is, it’s hard to distinguish Labour from the Tories." Well of course. As I said above, if Labour get into power they will have no more resources to do anything than the Tories currently do. The best case scenario is that nothing much will change. The worst case is that they will attempt change and cock it up. Given their history, I'd suggest option B is more likely.

I agree I am not happy with the direction of travel Starmer and Labour are taking. "Keir Starmer said on Tuesday that Labour is planning to “move on” from this commitment. Asked about the policy on BBC Radio 4, he said: “We are likely to move on from that commitment because we do find ourselves in a different financial situation.” But Mr Starmer said that the current system was “unfair” and that it “doesn’t really work” for students or for universities. He said the party is “looking at options for how we fund these fees”, though he didn’t say what these are. Labour has been approached for comment about these potential options – we’ll update this article if we hear back". Sounds sensible."Labour's Lisa Nandy has rejected the idea of rent controls, describing it as a "sticking plaster on our deep-seated problems". The shadow housing secretary said the policy would "almost certainly" leave some people homeless. In September, she had said local leaders should be able to freeze rents in their areas over the winter. Labour mayors including Sadiq Khan and Andy Burnham have called for rent freezes. Tenants in the UK faced the highest rent increases on record last year, with private rents rising by 5% in the 12 months to May, according to the latest official figures". Sounds sensible.Electoral reform is going ahead as far as I can see. "A Labour spokesperson told the Times: “This is not Labour policy and we have no plans to implement it.” Officials are said to view other measures as “more effective” when it comes to cutting poverty. The decision is likely to spark frustration among campaigners, as well as members perplexed to keep hearing almost as many policies ruled out or rowed back on as ruled in. But some experts note it would mainly benefit better-off children, as most poorer pupils are already entitled to free school meals, so you don’t have to be a bean-counter to wonder if it’s the best thing for Labour to prioritise". Sounds sensible."But Mr Starmer did not say he would accept PRB recommendations if he becomes prime minister, instead saying: "I am not going to hide from this. "If we are privileged enough to come into power at the next election, and I hope we are so that we can serve our country, we are going to inherit a real mess, a really badly damaged economy. "Public services that aren't on their knees but on their face - the NHS in particular - and a sense that we have got to go at pace to try to repair, rebuild and run towards the future which is available for us as a country". We shall see.The Tories have screwed our economy and what was possible a few short years ago is going to be very difficult now.

I have said this to some of these new labour clowns for years , but scotland for example never fell out of love with labour because of wurzel corbyn. It was new labour scotland fell out of love with , and they finally lost the majority of their seats under murphy and milliband , not corbyn , and lost control of holyrood during the blair and brown years.
So given their history as you say , being a fag paper to the left of the tories , but being completely incompetent with pennies , nothing major will change( see starmer running away from any of his progressive policies) and what little they do change for the worse will cost us billions in yet more debt like their disasterous pfi deals we are all still paying.

You are easily pleased.
I can assure you 110 % i will be voting against labour as normal with every fibre of my being such is my disgust and dislike of that party. Your best hope is apathy across the uk and an extremely low turnout while getting your own cult members out to vote.

Yet nore of smarmers string pullers and lefts hypocrisy.. RMT union leaders are branded 'hypocritical' as they try to slash jobs and pay among their own staff Union faces revolt from catering and office staff at its National Education Centre RMT union leaders were branded 'hypocritical' yesterday for trying to slash jobs and pay among their own workers. The Daily Mail can reveal the strike-backing rail union is facing a revolt from catering and office staff at its National Education Centre in Doncaster. The row is over proposed job cuts and reducing allowances, such as for travel to work, which means some staff face a real-terms pay cut. Secretary-general Mick Lynch (pictured) has repeatedly accused industry bosses and ministers
of wanting 'to rip up our members' conditions in order to save money'
Affected staff, represented by the GMB union, are threatening to go on strike. In extraordinary comments showing how bitter the union vs union spat is, the GMB last night said: 'Members working at RMT are standing up for their rights.'
