Yeah. The anonymous member of the public is always a reliable source of information, Doc. Take it up with the BBC.. Dear BBC, Thanks for letting us know about all those millionaires who contacted you to let you know that they were allowed to maintain their accounts after falling below the threshold. I'm sure they emailed in the latest copies of their bank statements and that Coutts confirmed all their details. It's very unlikely that any of these people was just one of the Manfrog's ever decreasing army of truth-challenged gammons. Don't concern yourselves about that. That's extremely unlikely. Not a chance at all. Really. Best, D

One problem with your thesis - Coutts have never confirmed anything. What looks more likely has happened is that the BBC were spun a story by Natwests PR company which they (the BBC) took at face value and ran with it. In future BBC reporters might be a little more circumspect and less likely to get played.

I think we know who got played here, Doc. Indeed - I keep telling you not to be so gullible but every time you fall for it...

I don't believe the Coutts statement I think they wanted him gone for political reasons and have now come up with a reason they could have discussed with him just to cover their backsides. The Mail today said this has reached the politicians who are pondering state action and I read yesterday this type of issue is impacting others for example a viscounts wife was refused an account as her husband was seen as a PEP. The Banks need to get their act together quickly, IMO. If there is any truth to the allegations that this is a politically motivated attack it would immediately beg the question as to who is pulling the strings and why. But if it is in any way possible for politicians in collusion with the deep state to organise something like this, god help us if Labour get in. The faction in charge of Labour right now is utterly intolerant of dissent even inside its own party and sees everyone who disagrees with them as an enemy to be destroyed. If we value political freedom and open democracy, the last people we need holding the reins of power are Starmer and his gang of careerist control freaks who operate in a principle-free bubble. It seems next time we will only get a choice as ever between Labour and Tories, which is about as much of a positive choice as choosing between genital warts and crabs. People will end up voting for crabs just to stop genital warts from getting in. Both main parties are such appallingly bad prospects, neither worthy of being trusted with power, that our only hope is a hung parliament where smaller parties can keep them from unfettered power. I mean it is potentially very bad when a left leaning republican like me can envisage situations where King Charles sacking the lot of them and taking charge himself is the lowest threat to our freedoms. I have seen how these New Labour types operate from the inside, and it is with a kind of underhand, intolerant, utterly unprincipled abuse of due process, with anyone who is not with them an enemy to be managed and crushed, by fair means or foul, using all the levers of power available to them. Can you imagine such people ultimately in charge of MI5 and Special Branch, the armed forces and the police, and the entire apparatus of government? The prospect frightens me because I know how they operate and what they are capable of. And how utterly unprincipled they are.

The BBC and the bank working together to break customer privacy and push the bank's lies. I look forward to Farage's fight back.

I see Farage is now looking at taking legal action against Coutts after they leaked his financial details to the BBC - hopefully it will be a good little earner for him.. Doubles all round..

He should, even if it's just to keep the spotlight on them. I'm sure they have a lot of customers who may resent the idea that their private financial details could be handed to the press. I think that action alone highlights the level of foul play by the bank.

Bit more grist to the mill, Coutts will regret taking on Farage.

Coutts will likely make a counter-claim against Farage for corporate defamation. They stand to be awarded far more significant damages if their claim succeeds.

That would be unwise, he hasn't defamed them, he has been careful not to do that.
