But we only have 30 aircraft in service - thats 15 each for the carriers. Take out a third as serviceable at any time and that leaves 20 aircraft in total. In 1982 we had almost 50 Harriers in the task force.. 20-30 F-35’s will wipe the floor with 50 or more harriers. I’d not be concerned about air dominance.

If you can get them in the air - the F35's are about as reliable as the aircraft carriers.

The Falkland Islands have a population of around 3,000 people, of which about 70% have been there for generations, and of that 3000 people, approximately 98% do not want to become Argentinian. The UK has every right to point out to the world, to Argentina, and to China that the status of the islands is primarily a matter for the people who live there. On the other hand - There are instances where the UK is inherently very much in the WRONG, as for instance in the case of The Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean, which is probably the most shamefull chapter in modern British history. Those islands rightfully belong to Mauritius. I agree on the Chagos Islands unfortunately they are of strategic interest to the USA who have air bases there.
