Well for example we are banning ICE cars from 2030 - the EU is not. So in the whole worldwide scheme of things what is our ban actually going to achieve?. It's all very well being virtuous and saying how great it is that the UK leads the world, but if it is crippling our economy and driving people into real hardship whilst the peoples in other countries carry on as before what is the point? Yes I think we could extend that to 2035 like the rest of Europe. Don't really think it will make that much difference to the economy. But I'm fine with that. Most people with new cars will be electric by then anyway. Right - so we follow Europe by scrapping the ban on ICE cars and we might as well follow them by scrapping the ban on gas boilers in favour of heat pumps. So we will already, by scrapping just these 2 artificial limits, save the consumer from an awful lot of extra (pointless) costs. And the effect on climate change has been zilch.

You have yet to answer the very simple question on this forum and the last which is...... if your ECO gadjets are so good why do they have to be forced upon an unwilling poblic? In your own time Zany...But sometime in this millennium would be nice.

Article in todays paper along the lines of this discussion. Investment in offshore windfarms now in danger due to the operators claiming that the subsidies are not high enough.. So here we are after subisidising windfarms for the past 20+ years and still they are no closer to becoming economically viable. How much longer will this madness continue?..

Hasnt the uk government already backtracked on new lorries being all electric by 2030 ? As for cars , while im seeing an increasing amount of folk (anecdotally i will admit) buying hybrids and full electric , im also hearing more and more unhappy complaints about them and their flaws when compared to the over the top costs.

I've explained this several times. How many more times do you need it explained? You have never explained it. Did you write it in invisible eco friendly ink? Nope. I explained several times about the need to kick start the technology to get passed the initial start costs and the get the batteries to viability. I'm sure you didn't read it, but then I wasn't talking to you.

Deal, will you let the government know or should I? The government knows, they just ain't telling us. The government being those who are always in power whoever you think you are voting for, know full well the likes of Sweden have cottoned on while they continue to frustrate any effort to lift the UK and prepare the plebs for the future. Without it being controlled completely via Brussels.

Without it being controlled completely via Brussels. I agreed with Pacifico on a compromise. Not to scrap our efforts to reduce climate change. To delay the demise of ICE cars and Gas boilers by 5 years. That would bring us back in line with Brussels who were 5 years behind us. We have seen delays in the reduction of Co2 due to the production bounce back in China after covid and the war in ukraine forcing countries to temporarily return to using coal. For those of us who think Global warming is real and has serious consequences, this is unfortunate, but I'm a realist. We can only hope that we stop the warming before real damage is done, this is a long haul.

We might be seeing the beginning of the climbdown back to reality. Obviously, given the current distance between reality and the fantasy, this adjustment is going to have to happen in phases
Still at stake is how much damage these fools are prepared to inflict to preserve their dignity.
