What you cannot escape Andrew is that in your heart you must know that someone declaring another guilty before proceedings commence cannot be right,I think your distaste for Boris stops you condemning that. And isn’t this the problem we face and it’s not just about this affair it’s the whole thing of shutting down people with a different opinions, cancelling people and history why is a so called liberal society becoming so illiberal? Surely everyone one has their rights but if you deny others in order promote some then that’s the problem,I accept there is another side to this but views become entrenched and somebody/ many lose out in the end. I thought I'd addressed that, but my point was that all MPs were also witnesses including the committee members, so barring undermining the sovereignty of Parliament I'm not sure how you get around? Every MP would have had an opinion when the truth was uncovered. I agree it looks a bit odd, but they have followed the correct procedures as they should. Where I do feel a little for Boris is that he seems the only one being held accountable for the parties when others were more responsible, (and I note Simon Case's inappropriate nomination in Boris's honours) but he was the only one that lied parliament about it. Smarmer lied to Parliament hash. But of course that's OK because he is a sanctimonious arsehole.

I guess the remedy was in their hands and that after her declaration they could’ve picked another to chair it,would it have made a difference to the outcome? probably not but it would’ve had a better look to the whole process and this typifies the whole Westminster bubble. Add to that that he was no longer PM and the whole look again is let’s not only find him culpable but let’s turn the knife as in denying him a pass, not sure why any who go get one but that’s the way it is so it looks like pure spite denying it to him.

So what is the difference between Boris or smarmer as they were both doing the same thing hash? To think we actually all saw pictures of Starmer through a window with a bottle beer in his hand, I haven't seen one picture of Boris with his slice of cake and wine glass, yet smarmer gets off scot-free. Yes then him and his slapper lied to Parliament the prick couldn't even remember who was there.

Exactly he was caught red handed, and she couldn't remember is she was there or not, until she was reminded .... its a Fuckin joke how they got away with it.

On the amusing side as it's all about lying to Parliament which they all do constantly as they lie to each other and hence lie to the electorate constantly which their activists repeat constantly to everyone else it would seem a little hypocritical in the first place.

He didn't. Jonksy is just making things up because he doesn't actually have anything constructive to say.

Angela Rayner WAS at Keir Starmer's 'beergate' event despite Labour denying it, while MPs reveal the deputy leader joked about using Sharon Stone ploy at PMQs and leader apparently flouted guidance at his own birthday bash... with cake
Conservative MP Brendan Clarke Smith said last night: 'For all their sanctimony about honesty and transparency, it's plain to see that Labour have not told the truth about Keir Starmer's lockdown drinks party.
'Why would they lie about Angela Rayner's presence if they thought the event was legal? It makes you wonder what else they are hiding.'

At the time I wondered why the Tories and indeed the media didn't make more of a big deal about of this. It's no secret that Raynor lied about being at Starmers beer & curry bash. Tbh I got the impression no one was really bothered about Starmer having a beer & curry bash during lockdown or the fact that Raynor lied about being there. It seems these things are only heinous crimes if they are done by the Tories.

Exactly, many of us are still scratching our heads wondering how Starmer & Rayner were caught 'red handed', the link to the article if you scroll down, you'll see Starmer in clear view with a bottle of beer in his hand, during official 'lockdown'.
They blatantly 'lied' about it, yet Johnson with his nibble of a cake and sip of wine was like the end of the world .... something really dodgy going on.

The Tories and their supporters DID try very hard to make something of the perfectly legal meeting which broke no rules and was TWICE investigated, both times the outcome and verdict was the same.
Both Kier Starmer and Angela Raynor were so confident that they had not broken any rules, that they both declared that they would resign if a Fixed Penalty Notice was issued.
Not only is it plainly obvious to any impartial by-stander that no rules were broken, but Durham Police investigated the event TWICE, and came back with the same verdict.

It seems these things are only heinous crimes if they are done by the Tories. He was cleared of those 'offences' twice by the police. Even if he was guilty of the 'heinous' crime of having a curry and beer, it would not come close to the 'culture' of party's in Downing street which Johnson repeatedly denied having or attending.
