Don't you need the evidence before coming to the conclusions for the enquiry, otherwise what is the point? As for the decision for lockdowns, it's a bit difficult to criticise the government for following the scientific advice, if they had no evidence to the contrary. If the scientific advice turned out to be wrong, then we should look at that as an issue, understand why, and then use that as a lesson learned for future pandemic planning. I'm no fan of the government, as you know, and I don’t think they handled this well (in fact I don't think they handle much of anything well), but the purpose of the enquiry has to be to learn, not for people to make up their minds without evidence. That's totally pointless and illogical. This is not a search for evidence - it is a search for someone to blame... We already know from other countries what worked and what didnt - spending a £100 million to tell us the same things in 2 years time (if you are lucky) is a pointless waste of money. As I have a low opinion of your opinions, I'll wait and see what comes out of the enquiry

What the inquiry should find:
There should have been no lockdowns. There should have been no track and trace. The advice should have been to take great care if you were in poor health, diabetic or obese. Infection will aid immunity. Vaccines will reduce the impact of Covid but will not prevent transmission or infection. Likewise masking. Schools should have stayed open and business should have carried on as normally as possible. Travel should have remained open What the inquiry will find:
The Tories are evil.... Deaths and infection down to Covid. United Kingdom cases Updated 4 Jun at 10:05 local Confirmed
24,618,436 Who knows how many would have died without treatment and how many more without precautions. I guess callous crap heads just don't care. Deaths
226,278 As above ^^^ Hmm, so no problem with Covid, carry on as normal LOL Horseshit for gullible fools..

226,278 As above ^^^ Hmm, so no problem with Covid, carry on as normal LOL Your title is wrong for a start, the 226,278 figure is where Covid is mentioned on the death certificate, not where it caused death. The only realistic way to work out how many deaths were caused by the pandemic is to study the excess deaths. The initial period of excess would have contained large amounts of Covid deaths simply because treatments / best practice had to be established. When you study the figures UK excess deaths are actually lower then France, Germany, Spain and Italy... all of whom locked down earlier, tougher and for longer. England has less excess deaths than Scotland and Wales, by a considerable amount, and they both had tougher and longer lockdowns than England. Leaving the Covid denials idiots to one side, there are genuine questions as to what damage the lockdowns caused: (1) The huge NHS backlog they created. (2) People were too scared to go to hospital in case they caught Covid, so ignored health problems. (3) Massive resentment amongst professions that had to work all the way through (doctors, nurses, care workers, police, retail workers, truck drivers, postal workers, van drivers)... leading to bitter strike action this year. (4) Loss of education for our young people, and training time for new doctors / nurses etc. (5) Mental health problems created by the lockdowns. (6) Breakdown of marriages caused by the financial pressures of lockdown. (7) Massive cost of lockdowns to the economy. (8) Post lockdown inflation, leading to cost of living crisis. As usual, you label people as callous, but take zero responsibility for the above. The consequences of lockdowns are now killing more people than Covid and they have left everybody considerably poorer... and the sheer amount of debt will mean new austerity and even worse public services for decades.

Your title is wrong for a start, the 226,278 figure is where Covid is mentioned on the death certificate, not where it caused death. If it is mentioned on the death certificate, then it is a contributory factor in the death, even if there is more than one. If you had used the argument that before testing some of these were "best guesses", you'd have had more of a point.

I see that the Covid inquiry is scheduled to be still taking evidence in 2026 - so by the time they finally finish and write a report hardly any politician involved will still be around and the world will have moved on.
Meanwhile the latest study from the US that investigated the differing lockdown measures that were enacted around the world telss us what we already know...
