This would be the country that only recently threatened to cut off energy supplies in a spat over fishing licences - how on earth does that deliver a secure energy supply? Yeah yeah whatever. Never happened, never would. And its two way traffic in case you didn't know. So no answer then - you know damn well that the supply would not be secure but cannot bring yourself to admit it.

It's being legislatively forced on many western populations, so i don't see how the tide could turn. Perhaps later in the process, when the rioting starts? Anyone can still buy a diesel or petrol.

I was wondering what the overall view is on here regarding climate change. You all know my view, but if you don't. I think manmade climate change is very real and is now urgent. This comes off the back of the fact that I have mentioned several times that there is a cost to doing nothing about climate change, just as there is to do something about it. Be good to see your vote and your views. ZG, may I respectfully suggest you put this thread in the bear pit, scaredy-cat. Failing that, read this, I jest not on this subject, it's the most informative volume you will ever read.

Interestingly, Yellowstone national park sits atop a huge volcanic caldera.
And it's getting restive.
Should Yellowstone blow, not only will it take a large part of the US with it (no great shame) but the resultant volcanic aerosols will cool the Earth by several degrees for multiple decades. It may even precipitate another mini ice age and will turn current climate change modelling on its head.
Food for thought: The Just Stop Oil idiot that I was speaking to the other day might even have been right. Just not for the reasons he thought. But then nature has a habit of delivering surprises.

Failing that, read this, I jest not on this subject, it's the most informative volume you will ever read. Red I know you enjoy joining your friends in ridiculing and insulting people, your idea of a good evening is mocking someone's opinion. But its not what I want. I want the people I talk to to be interested in the subject and answer points with reason not mockery. Has it ever occurred to you that each time in your bid to look cool with your mates you drive a leftie globalist away from the site you have one less person to mock. That people searching politics forums find this site, don't join because they only see pages and pages of you and your mates mocking some poor sod? That the only option open to such behaviour is to mock back or leave. If you think your option is so popular then leave this tiny section to us scaredy-cats and enjoy the whole rest of the forum. Fact is the whole rest of the forum is empty bar the endless threads where you all echo your hatred of woke, immigrants and the EU.

Yellowstone is a planet killer. Did you know they tried drilling hole in it a few decades back in an attempt to relieve the pressure? Didn't work. Yellowstone has experienced three at 2m, 1.3m and 631,000 years ago. This comes out to an average of about 725,000 years between eruptions. That being the case, there is still about 100,000 years to go, but this is based on the average of just two time intervals between the eruptions, which is meaningless. Nature could kill us at a whim, but I see no reason to use that risk as an excuse to kill ourselves.

But It could have happened and it would have happened in certain French politicians had got their way. The only secure energy supplies are the ones we produce ourselves - relying on foreign nations that have already proven themselves to be untrustworthy is not the action of someone who takes the issue seriously. There is a crackpot scheme being promoted at the moment to build a solar farm in Morocco and pipe the power to us using a 2000 mile cable under the Atlantic Ocean - what could possibly go wrong?..

You only say this because you want to shoe horn our dwindling North sea gas supplies back into the conversation, but there is no appetite in the country for more fossil fuels. The crack pot scheme you describe, I bought to the forum with a lot more detail than your "What could possibly go wrong" mockery. And guess what, the people investing billions have thought it through. But for you its apparently perfectly workable to bury gas pipelines under the sea for thousands of miles but not ones carrying electricity. Can I ask, does your sneering gland entirely bypass your cerebral cortex?

LOL - we are going to be using fossil fuels for decades and possibly hundreds of years, so there is certainly an appetite for them. Unless you are expecting everyone to start living in a cave and knitting their own socks that is?....

No, nature is going to kill us. That's not an if it's a when.

We are not going to get more - just replace the dwindling supply from existing fields. Your policy commits us to being dependent on erratic supplies from foreign governments at very high cost.

Old age is going to kill you, its not an if its a when. Do you have any desire to hurry it along.
