I assume you are talking to me. It's called 'shoe on the other foot' whence an action precipitates a 'what would happen' scenario. People do it all the time, in business, politicians, shopkeepers, you............ Without exploring such possibilities wrong choices would be more frequent and more dangerous. If I was bothered speaking with you, I would have referenced your post. I have learnt all I need to know from you for a minute, I will call you if I need you. Do you actually know what 'just stop oil' are asking for? I don't think their placards state what they want other than to 'stop oil'. If you know what their apparently hidden agenda is that they are asking for, please explain it to the forum. No the placards don't but when they talk in interviews they are very plain. I did say this on the first page. "They want the UK to stop opening new oil sources in this country, like coal mines, oil wells........
They know we cannot just 'stop' using oil but are saying we do not need to open new sources".It's not a hidden agenda but the government is opening new coal mines and opening new well. |

Work it out, why would Eco warrior 'protesters' go around destroying the environment?
Even you, someone who is very slow on the uptake, must be sitting there shaking your head are rolling your eyes wondering why Eco environmentalists are actually trying to destroy the planet ......... duh

He thinks that Just stop oil is a movement to bring to a halt the granting of licences for coal and oil exploration. As usual, people like him have no understanding of what that would entail. They don't realise that the products they want to ban have far more uses than vehicle propulsion. That aside, they haven't realised that in the absence of those natural resources, we would be at the mercy of expensive supplies from overseas, the costs that could wreck countries across the world. Back to uses. Oil and coal are the bedrock of so many products on which the world relies, plastics, numerous building materials, bitumen to build roads, by-products such as pharmaceuticals and all manner of goods that used to be made of metal and replacing wood, lord knows how many more trees we would destroy if not for plastic. To list every item would take many forum pages but as a last ditch effort, it's worth mentioning little personal things these rabble idiots use, calculators, mobiles, computers and much more. .....and this is not something new, I've been writing along these lines all the years that these idiots show themselves up. At least you understand but they have never asked or expect the immediate stopping of using material gained by oil, just that no new oil is produced. The government could quite easily make that commitment by sourcing it elsewhere or investing more in green technology, we are an island after all, but they will not. And no, it wont be easy but if we don't we are all screwed, unless you do not believe in global warming. |

It's going to sound stupid when i say this but i have roleplayed this universe since about 1985. One of the stranger table top role playing games to come out of the cold war was a wargame scenario called "twilight 2000". This begins with Honiker using his T52's to invade west germany and Maggie using my battlefield tactical nukes against him, and suddenly the whole of western europe is back in the stone age, what's left of it.
There are no high grade petroleum products any more, no aviation fuel so to the relief of BOTH sides the americans can no longer "provide close air support" (or cause blue on blue incidents). War is reduced to small groups of former military organisations using gasohol fuelled vehicles. World trade ends because ships no longer have fuel of any kind to run with. The Cutty Sark is put back into operation. The arabs don't give a flying fuck about you anti-petroleum tossers and saudi becomes the new Washington DC. and Mohammed becomes the new Jesus. The Chinese equally give not a fuck about you anti petroleum tossers and Peking (we didn't use the native names back then and why should we now) becomes the new World Second City.
And almost all of Africa starves to death apart from the bit that's still run by white men
OK THAT's the GAME universe.
Some of that won't happen now. Apart from almost every black african starving to death because there will be fuck all point escaping to western europe it wil be starving to death too. No means to grow the food the population bloated from immigration needs, and no way to transport it. On the up side, no immigration unless they walk or paddle the rubber boats

If you ever meet these people it will quickly become apparent that they have been radicalised and they believe in what they're doing with religious fervour. I have met a couple of the welsh assembly who have been infected with their virus.
Try telling Wankford's Energy Adviser the planet is cooler now than it was in the past and the only reason the climate emergency exists is someone has been a bit selective on their choice of what to measure. Also the temperature readings in the upper atmosphere don't agree with the mathematical models ....
I am seriously coming round to the view let the fuckers have their way but sadly they will be dead becfore the rioters come to dig them up and posthumously behead them so they wont feel it
