Hey Goldfish The UK is now paying for something it got for free as a member of the EU. Something it was told would not happen. Nothing will change that. Now do another lap and chase your own tail. Blublublub. There is nothing free about being an EU member Kim. Gawd you're dim.

How did you pay for free labour which paid taxes when they arrived? I am not talking about itinerant untrained people who wouldnt have been eligible for any bursaries in the UK. I am talking about what the government is trying to attract. Trained teachers though to what level, who knows. Read tha facts again. Are you saying that the new graduates will be exempt from tax? You do realise that it wasn’t only teachers involved in the free movement of labour ? The government is trying to attract graduates in high priority subjects to train as teachers ,so what ? If you cant read properly dont bother answering. I said they will be PAYING tax. So what?? This is the government which peomised to fill all vacancies by training up BRITISH people. The UK doesn't need overseas workers you said. Brts will be swarming to fill vacancies. SO WHY IS IT PAYING NON BRITS 10,000 POUNDS EACH TO GO TO THE UK TO FILL VACANCIES AND NOT OFFER BRITS MONEY TO TRAIN TO FILL THOSE VACANCIES?? At the moment it costs thousand pounds a year to study to be a teacher and at the same time, giving more than that to encourage non Brits to increase legal (as well as illegal)immigration it says it wants to cut, do the work. Is this the Brave New Brexit you so defend?

So the UK has always paid non EU teachers 10 000 pounds each. Blublub.
Since the EU has no power or influence in national education policy the UK has never paid for the recruitmennt of teachers via the EU. Nor has the EU
AND WHY HASNT THE BREXIT PROMISE OF TRAINING AND RECRUITMENT OF UK
been helped by offering British teacher trainees 10,000 pounds each instead of adding to the migration numbers they promised would fall??

Obviously not. There is enough in the kitty to pay overseas staff. But British trainees have to pay 9 thousand a year to train as a teacher. Three years as an undergrad and a year of postgrad. Brexit promised included training the British population 10 grand each would be a big help. Instead the Brexit government is skinning teachers' pay and paying non Brits to teach there.
This as i recall was one of the persistent justifications to cut freedom of movement...reduce foreign labour to push wages up. Instead the UK is begging for and bribing foreign labour and keeping pay at home so low that teachers are both leaving and not applying in the first place.
A clear example of Brexit Farce.

Of course it is - paying a tiny amount of foreign teachers to come to the UK £10k is going to cost an awful lot less than paying all UK teachers £10k. I hope you didn't teach mathematics..

Is this the Brave New Brexit you so defend? “Graduates applying to train as teachers in high priority subjects will receive increases to tax-free cash bursaries and scholarships from next year under government plans to recruit and retain top talent. For aspiring teachers starting their training in September 2023, bursaries worth £27,000 and scholarships worth £29,000 will draw talented trainees into the highest-priority STEM (science, technology and mathematics) subjects of mathematics, physics, chemistry and computing. £25,000 bursaries and £27,000 scholarships will be offered to prospective languages teachers – up £10,000 on this academic year. Bursary and scholarship eligibility is being EXTENDED to all non-UK national trainees in physics and languages.” What was that about reading properly? You do know the definition extended?

It was YOUR link which mentioned selective bursaries and a few scholarships, plus
"A new relocation premium for overseas nationals coming to England to teach or train in these subjects was confirmed earlier this year in the Schools White Paper, which will help with visa costs and other expenses."
Which is what I am discussing.

Look Bent Pre brexit there were bursaries for poorer applicants and scholarships for the gifted. Everyone else PAID uni fees. Now because of Brexit and the subsequent lack of teachers we the taxpayers have to pay MORE to get back what we had for far less. I thought Brexit was supposed to put wages up. Instead it resulted in fewer teachers at a higher cost just to be where the situation was before Brexit.
There is more money having to be paid for at best, the same service.
Frankly there is no advantage but it costs more money
Look up the word "benefit". There is none here.
