So, if that is your issue then pushing her from her job for such a trivial misdemeanour would be a non-starter. But your faux outrage actually means you want shot of the brown woman. It's not about the speeding, the fine or the points it is about the possibility that a Minister of the crown was 'attempting' to use the civil service in an inappropriate manner, can you not see that? A civil servant would, one would think, be under a lot of undue pressure if a Minister asked them to 'clean her shoes' depending on the seniority of the said civil servant, of course but would that request be acceptable? Rubbish. You're on here defending the rights of protestors to block law abiding citizens commuting to work. Now you want the head of Braverman because she has asked a junior colleague to look into a matter - a trivial matter that has been leaked for the likes of you to jump and down about.

Red Rum
I'm not convinced she wanted the Civil Service to 'find a way'. It was the speed awareness course organisers who would or wouldn't know if they provided 'a way' and it was from them she was seeking to garner the information. My guess is that she quite innocently asked the Civil Service to acquire that information for her, and didn't request them to deviously 'find a way' as you seem to imply.

I think this is a non story yet Labour are bound to play on it as they are struggling to present a positive image for voting for them. Braverman obviously did not want the points though trying to do a course as a Minister would not work as she would be a distraction on the course as a public figure. This is not a stepping down offence and it will be interesting to see how this runs. Indeed. The issue is basic common sense and disappearingly trivial. The mandarins are desperately trying to find 'technical crimes' in the noise and scrapping up against embarrassing barrel bottoms in the search. The civil service shouldn't be acting as their own unelected political party at all, but we are well beyond the point at which it is obvious that they are.

I'm afraid you'll have to shoulder a large portion of the blame for sending people down the wrong path on this one, Red Rum. Remember it was the Leftists who were first out of the traps, ranting and raving and attempting to stir a hullabaloo. If you set an inaccurate agenda initially you only have yourselves to blame (and possibly the Mods for not shifting this thread in it's initial stages to their newly titled Conspiracy Theory section) Just take a look at Page 1 to remind yourself. Wapentake crowing about the 'shame' of Braverman, and how it was Braverman's evasion of publicity that we should be focusing on. You made a very early (third post) on this thread:'Is it right for a 'citizen' of this country to attempt, using a position of power, to avoid paying a speeding fine?' ... in the process doing more than anyone to throw people off the scent, by encouraging us to concentrate our minds on the avoidance of paying a fine aspect. It would appear the right-wing media have done no more than followed your lead ..... if you're now desperately trying to sing from a different song-sheet as regards Braverman, look a little closer to home to find who sowed the seeds of confusion in their haste to throw some mud at her. Joining in with those early baseless Leftist conspiracies are making attempts to change your tune now, all the more difficult. Yes here’s me crowing on page 1 And in reply to RedRum a few posts later saying was it right what she did If you know anything you might know who that labour politician is And what did you say in reply to his comment Is that you having a good crow? So there’s my conspiracy with the left to get Braverman Tbh I do think there’s a tendency to turn everything on here to a lefty vs righty thing instead of looking at what actually occurred.

Now we’ve got the investigation into Boris Johnson’s illicit trips and gatherings at Chequers to look forward to… Completely politically motivated which is why Boris is taking legal action against this false and scurrilous leak, and I sincerely hope some lefty civil servant gets dismissed and prosecuted. If any investigation is needed it's an investigation into the constant stream anti government leaks from the left wing civil service.

We have that right. She was not supposed to ask civil servants to help her in a private matter, it's called 'conflict of interest'.

Do you not understand the hierarchical system?

Some government personnel have been taken to task by The Speaker for releasing proposed legislation to supportive news media before it progressed through established official channels…
