It's clear there is a witch-hunt in motion for Tory Brexiteers.
Rishi needs to stare the 'blob' and the chattering classes down.
Get rid of the brown woman and it's much easier to scream 'racist' against anyone fighting illegal immigration on behalf of their citizens.

Well rules are one thing, but what I'm intrigued by is what she did that was supposedly wrong. Still no answer on that front. Asked civil service staff if they could facilitate a 'private' speed awareness course.

Interestingly, I'm currently listening to lawyer Nick Freeman otherwise known as Mr Loophole, on GB News. He says he has arranged many one to one, or private speed awareness courses for 'celebrity' clients. In his opinion this is politically motivated and Braverman did nothing that could possibly be construed as legally wrong. Yes I read it in the Telegraph today ‘Nick Freeman, a motoring lawyer known as Mr Loophole, said high-profile figures often completed speed awareness courses in private and that Ms Braverman had “not broken the law, nor has she done anything wrong” Now if anyone does know about Speeding Tickets its him he has won enough Court cases to prove it There is no problem with a 'private' speed awareness course, although I do think people being caught speeding should be named and shamed, it is who she 'asked' to sort out her personal problem that is the point. Should a minister of the crown be 'asking' civil servant to make them tea, polish their shoes, sort out their personal problems, wipe their arses......................?

Is it right for a 'citizen' of this country to attempt, using a position of power, to avoid paying a speeding fine? position of power/attempt to avoid a speeding fine
What rot Most drivers in receipt of a speeding ticket through the post are offered the opportunity/choice to avoid points on their licence and a fine by taking a group speed awareness class which lasts a couple of hours and they have pay the equivalent of the fine for course registration. A hotel local to where I live hosts these ciurses 2 days a week (yes I'm fully aware that it depends on your prior driving record ) From what I've read all she did was to ask an official if it was possible to take the course on a 1-2-1 basis rather than in a group probably because she would be recognised. A reasonable request imo and an option probably explored by many famous faces. She chose to take the points and pay a fine instead as she (and most drivers ) was entitled to A complete non story An 'official' who, think about it.

This whole issue has more than one side to it ,if it is being alleged that she was misusing her position then go ahead have an inquiry.
of late there more than a few instances that allege civil servants are abusing their position for political reasons what a civil servant should not do
Should there not be an enquiry about this?

You're working away, your concentration is mainly on the new policy you're formulating to allow the machine gunning of dinghies when they get within range of our coast ....... a Civil Servant comes in to collect your empty coffee cup, and without looking up, all you do is utter the words 'I see I'm booked in for a Group Speed Awareness course on November 9th at 3pm, whereas I've since had an invitation to deliver the Enoch Powell Memorial lecture in the morning, and to meet Macron in the afternoon to instruct him how the Frogs could harpoon those dinghies and bring them to a halt before they're even half a mile away from the French coast ..... that day is already too busy, would you mind checking on whether there isn't some form of one-to-one course I can be booked onto in my own time instead?'
Apoplectic Civil Servant replies: 'Oh my God !!! Suella !!! ....do you realise what you've just done ? ...you've committed one of the most terrible crimes any Minister could be guilty of !'
Suella: 'Are you sure, it's not as if I've requested you to bring me two cups of coffee within a one hour period ?'
Apoplectic Civil Servant: 'Yes, yes .... it's even worse than that ..... I'm not allowed to do the dialling for you ..... you'll have to call them yourselves or get one of your Special Advisors to do it'
Suella: 'Oh, okay, I'll do that'
Apoplectic Civil Servant: 'But don't you understand Suella, it's too late... it's much too late ..... your career is over ..... you can't take back those words ...I distinctly recall you asking ME if I could do it FOR YOU !!'
Suella: 'Yeah, but you've explained that you can't do it, so I'll do it ....... I readily accept your explanation as to why you can't do it ...so what's the problem ?
Apoplectic Civil Servant: 'The problem ? ...what's the problem she dares to ask ! .... the problem is that you're not clearing your desk ...that you're not writing your resignation letter ..... I know what I heard you ask me ..... I'll be taking this much further ... you'll not get away with this you scoundrel ...I've never experienced such an abuse of authority in all my Civil Service days. You're pure evil you are, Suella ...pure evil !!!'

Your account, whilst admittedly funny was something that probably happened on "yes Minister', which was meant to entertain.

She asked if something that is normal and legal is possible. It is not right to ask a subordinate about a personal legal issue. So, in your opinion, if she asks a civil servant if it's legal to drive at 90mph on uk roads, she is committing moral infraction? That sounds like an absurd, pearl-clutching overstretch to me - ie motivated reasoning
