Biology suggests a binary. The biological system known as 'sex' employs two variants (male and female). Tradition in many cases tracks some reality or other. But sometimes the biology does not match the brain or the hormones. Irrelevant - the system of sex suggests (in fact, is) a binary. This fact has nothing at all to do with tradition. |

It is a very inciteful comment. Recognising things for what they are is key to making advancements. Understanding the eye for what it is has helped lead to real quality of life improvements from glasses to contacts to various eye surgeries. The same thing could be the case for those who suffer from gender dysphoria. Rather than this ridiculous approach of humouring people that want to redefine sex / gender, it would be far better to understand what gender dysphoria actually is, what causes it and how to treat it. It would far improve the quality of life for sufferers of gender dysphoria if they could be cured rather than them have to live with it, play dress up, or go off and mutilate their bodies with unnecessary and potentially dangerous surgeries. |
