well thats some spin . Of course you are correct in the cost to the uk taxpayer , more like £12 billion , more than the annual EU membership , but it begs the question why westmisnter repeatedly invaded ireland from the 12th century onwards , finally completed conquest in the 16th century , ran ireland as a single unit/kingdom/country for 400 years , then anti democratically partitioned 6 counties ( of which only two had large unionist majorites , two had large nationalist majorities , and the other two split almonst evenly) to the position you are now bleating about the annual cost of an anti democratic partition your country enforced in 1921.?
Is this the latest face saving excercise?
The whole world knows washington and brussells told london whats what over northern irleand and brexit , and westmisnter jumped to attention and said yes sir three bags full sir. Despite the bleat about brexit being a uk vote , part of the uk got to remain.
No amount of spin or puerile face saving is going to erase that global embarressment for you pacifico.
That's not embarrasment. That's compromise. If you want embarrassment see the SNP and their ongoing corruption.
Brexit was a uk vote they said........so the uk has to leave they cried..............until boris and rishi waved the white flag. stope it buccy im fucking greeting here.

The uk gov already pay state pension to millions outside the uk , under rules that would equally apply to both scottish and northern irish pesnioners i nthe event of either/both becoming indpendent.
We already know the uk gov told scotland( same for n.I ) that indy wont affect our state pension and westmsinter liability.
Not necessarily, this would all be part of an agreement with Ireland. There would be some give and take. The problem is if NI pensioners paid in Sterling and Sterling falls against the Euro.

Ive just started reading this, havent read all the posts. Isnt it true that the troubles in NI ceased because the IRA accepted the rule of democracy? And likewise, if NI votes to re join Eire, there cant be a problem can there?

In my view the loyalists in NI have never been truly British , they never wanted to be ruled from London it was just seen as a better option than Dublin The Protestants of NI see themselves as Irish , it’s just a different shade of green I

A mural of a Union Jack is evidence of something? I have been travelling on & working on & off to Ireland for 30+ years The Republic has changed out of all recognition in that time In 1990 when I first visited it was still a rather backward place & the Catholic Church still had huge political influence fast forward 34 years & the republic has a booming economy & the Church has been put in its place My point, many of the reasons the Unionists in the North would have pointed to as reasons not to reunite the Island have gone Sinn Fein now have to prove they can lead NI for the benefit of both communities & persuade the sufficient Unionist that their future is better served within a united Ireland
