There's a psychology at work, where they want the perks of the Union, but will always play the role of the victim which is eternally ungrateful. Give me more or else we'll destroy you sort of thing. Without oil, which was the SNP's main selling point a while back, they don't have much to bargain with. |

At no time has Ripley used that word to describe you or any other member of the board. As far as I'm concerned calling someone a gammon is no worse than calling someone an outraged lefty which many members have had to put up with. Yet he doesn't have a problem supporting those who do.

North Sea oil will end in our lifetime.
And even with the tax receipts of North Sea oil (mostly paid for by the rest of the UK, rather than the northern Scottish bit), Scotland runs a public spending DEFICIT.
The devolved administration spends more than tax provides.
And that is with Scotland receiving the highest share of UK taxes per capita.
The SNP are shit with money.
If Scotland had broken away it would now be fucked.

Without the oil , scotland is still a rich country in terms of natural resources. our green energy for exmaple is keeping the lights on in england. We have 90 % of the uk fresh water , and export five times per head of popualtion more than what england does.
The oil is merely the icing on the cake.
