And who can forget this gem:
That is quality. Irony is not a big thing on the left

That being none. Masks protect (slightly) other people from you, not the other way round. Don't talk daft. Explain then, for us with little knowledge, how a mask works? Effectively, a mask stops great big chunky things such as bacteria.
The Chinese Cough was due to a virus and viruses are slim, svelte little creatures that go through masks without touching the sides and are therefore useless. The masks that is, not the viruses

I heard anecdotally that many of those being turned away were pensioners.

That could be why my Dad asked what he would take and I said your passport as he does not drive now due to a heart condition.

My landlord was disenfranchised. He still has his paper driving licence and doesn't have a current passport. He's not happy that his shotgun licence wasn't accepted. The thing is, the woman at the polling station has known him for years but would only accept a photo ID from the list so she turned him away. He's written a stern letter.

He could have used the expired passport, as long as the photograph was still a good likeness. Having said that, the woman who new him, was it Ms Jobsworth?

I don't think he could find his old passport.

If a few oldiewonks are disenfranchised, I don't think that this is a bad thing. It's their own fault anyway. They can't say that they weren't warned.

This mask bullshit was introduced to save others and not those who are wearing them. But look on the bright side at least it improved the looks of some. You may be in the beneficial position of not needing one. Nobody needs the frigging things dead nag.

I wore a face mask and informed the man on the desk that I was classed as vulnerable, not a lie, and he said "that's OK" and gave me my ballot paper. Absolutely pointless, expensive waste of time. How did you lot get on? but did you bring photo id with you ?

I voted, so did Mrs, I used my bus pass and she used her passport. We didn't cover our faces like ninnies or ninjas to try to make a silly point, either. It took no longer than usual, in fact it helped with name spelling. I am in the vulnerable category and wear a mask whenever I go out, why is that silly? ok let me pop my lab coat on for a minute. Right. Before i say anything else the second Covid infection left me with heart failure thanks to auricular fibrillation lung congestion and an inability to climb more than three steps on the stairs. Persistence in physical exercise forced my systems back to 45% of ejected fraction which is about 75% of normal and the return of stamina sufficient to walk five miles and cycle nine but it took years and was terrifying at the start so yes i know what this fucking pox CAN do snd DID do to me. But i don’t wear a mask. Nothing to to with reduced airflow. I have a genetic quirk that makes me a sherpa as far as O2 retention goes and it has literally saved my life several times in low o2 situations But the fact is there is only one type of face mask that blocks the inhalation of the droplets. If you have one like ICU nurses had or a self contained breathing apparatus such as the scuba-like equipment supplying independent air inside my Porton Down style NBC suit i wore when culturing cells as a biochemist for my research (to protect the cells from me, not the other way round btw) then you are indeed protected. But alas my NBC suit is for the elevennstine man i was in my 20s not the man i am today. Although it woukd have been amusing wearing it to ASDA !!!! The 25p joke things you get from Lidl merely stop you from spreading any infection you have to hard surfaces you encounter. So for that one reason alone, the fact the masks widely circulated to the public offered little protection to the wearer, that wasn’t what they were for … i feel you may be falsely believing the equipment you use protects you in ways it simply does not.
