So why are you against another ref to join the EU never mind about the delay in impermanent of the referendum I am not sure why referenda are considered. The Tories made a commitment to hold a ref under their manifesto so that was clear. The parties that have referred to a repeat manifesto have not won elections so that is clear as well. I can recall not so long ago wishing to leave the EU and I was told to support a party that wished to leave when both Labour and Tory were Europhile parties. After a time Cameron was forced to consider a referendum. So I personally am not against a second referendum but in all fairness that should be a manifesto promise of any party gaining government and so far it is not. So realistically it should not be an option, or considered, until it appears as a manifesto promise on any party elected to government.

They are considered as a measure of last resort, a high risk strategy to manipulate the electorate and shut down a problem. They are no different to a three card trick really. The idea is simply to get the mark electorate to pick the card option the con-artist government wants them to. They are a shockingly bad idea given our system of Government. The conservative party under Cameron was arrogant and reckless. They thought they could pull off the con, but it bit them, parliament, and the country in the arse.

The problem is the people might want an election but the Tories aren't going to back their own sacking if 30,000,000 sign the petition. Labour are going to walk it if we had one today and the only way that won't happen even in two years is if Sunak performs miracles with his spending.
