I am not aware that anyone on the right wishes to limit anything, although they will call out hypocrisy when the left are protecting their own behaving in a way that is normally deplored. Indeed. When you look back, history suggests that left wing socialists aren't very social at all. Perhaps this is why they always desire to destroy history. Any left wing government always veers to authoritarianism to greater or lesser degrees. It is the only way to ensure from each according to his ability and to each according to his needs. The whole point of for the people by the people is to encourage cooperation and efficiency in whatever system is being chosen. The left are too busy identifying each other as victims and guilty oppressors dependant on which identity is strongest that day to actually make a system that works for all. |

In 1918, memorials to the Tsars were destroyed. We all know what that led to in the end and there is little doubt that mass killing and mass forced movements and imprisonments were the stock in trade of those who only toppled a few statues to begin with. |

A Mandela statue, an avowed terrorist and leader of a group which committed many serious crimes especially amongst those that were supposed to be the beneficiaries of their campaigns is immune and lauded. Shaka Zulu statue, who enslaved many into the Zulu cause, killed many for not being attentive dancers and indulged in frequent smellings out to rid himself of his political opponents, stands over a market place unmolested. It is interesting as regards Thatcher as she did what she said she would do when she was elected, three times and the measure of her success was a sound economy which is hailed as the one thing it is worth staying in the EU for. There is always a price to pay and I wonder which mines would be open now if Thatcher had relented and saved all the pits. There would be just stop coal protestors caring little for communities and would be applauding the demise of British coal. |
