People want to meke their own choice. Not what some lefty woke wanker wants to inflict upon them. They cannot make that choice if the information is not available.😔 It's being enforced. Yet another liberty we are about to lose thanks to the tossers you support.

Shadow minister Liz Kendall says alcohol needs to have nutritional information displayed on bars display to help drinkers look after their health. A Labour frontbencher was criticised today after suggesting beer pumps should display the number of calories in a pint. Shadow social care minister Liz Kendall said the nutritional value of alcoholic drinks was a 'big issue'. Speaking to the BBC she said that giving the information to drinkers would allow them to make decisions about what and how much they drink for themselves and avoid more drastic measures from politicians. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11923773/Shadow-minister-Liz-Kendall-criticised-backing-calorie-counts-pub-beer-taps.htmlNote: shadow minister for the nanny state said this was to avoid more drastic measures from politicians... ...who have the luxury of thirty (30) subsidised bars in the palace of westminster. Well IF we have to have them on menus why not? The sad truth is many people really are so thick they don't realise how many calories they are taking in, whether they can cope with the multi digit numbers on menus and maybe pumps might be a fair question. And while there's an argument we should just let them overeat/drink themselves to death they cost us a fortune in health treatment on their journey.

You utter pillock, you have hamstrung yourself. People have been drinking beer for hundreds of years and have never asked the nanny state to school them over the amount of calories they may be drinking. If you have any evidence to the contrary, lets see it... How do you know that 'for hundreds of years' some people may not have known how many calories are in their beer? Keep up with the times, this is the information generations, people want to know things. If you don't don't read it. Beer Ale and Mead has not been brewed and drunk in the UK for Hundreds of Years, but for many thousands of years, in fact it was safter to drink Ale than water, they brewed a weaker brew for children often called near beer

Beers already show alcohol content on the bottle, tin, and pump label. Why not calories too? Though if anyone's really interested, it doesn't take much to find out. For instance, a quick google shows that calories in a pint range from approx 160 for a light beer to 350 for a premium lager. Bitter is about 180 calories and stout 210. Beer (in moderation) also has some positives, I'm pleased to note that beer is a rich source of vitamins and minerals, and some also contain antioxidants. Research supports a number of potential health benefits to drinking moderate amounts of beer:
• lower risk of heart disease. • may help reduce the risk of developing diabetes • help people with diabetes control their blood sugar more effectively. • beer may help strengthen bones for men and postmenopausal women. Info taken from: www.webmd.com/diet/beer-good-for-you

Nobody but nobody is forcing people to look at the calorific content of beer. You are trying to deprive those that want to know, the right to know. Meanie.🤣

Yes. I agree. All commercially sold drinks should have the energy value of the drink on their labels. I have been on calorie controlled diets in the past and alcoholic drinks are the few that do not have their calorific value marked on them.
What's the problem with showing how much energy a drink contains?

You really are silly, if they are counting calories it is because they don't want to put weight on, if they are, as you put it 'fat', they don't care.

We're adults, we're responsible for our own health, I drive to work, I sit at a computer most of the time, I drive home, I spend too much time in a chair.
What I need is to get off my arse and walk about more. Calorie counts on a beer tap are not going to achieve that. Only I can achieve that.
I don't need politicians nannying me.

When I was going out every weekend, any calories in the beer were worked off by dancing with women, and shagging.

Not sure it's nannying. Businesses wanting to make more profit are prone to adding or taking away 'bits and pieces' from all sorts of things without telling the public what they are doing. This is one way, I imagine, to keep them on the narrow path of truth. Remember the advert for Cadbury chocolate, a pint and half of milk in every bar, they had to change it to glass but did not have to say what sized glass.
