It's one lie after another from Labour at the moment. The UK Government in Westminster does not set mortgage interest rates nor does it set the rate of Council Tax. In fact every Labour controlled local authority in the UK increased their Council Tax this year. That should tell us all something, Labour are manipulating Council Tax, the only way they could make that pledge just proves they are in control, so in other words they are purposely raising Council tax so they can blame the rises on the Tories. Labour get in to power under the same economic conditions and hey-presto they can freeze Council taxes ...they must think we were born yesterday. Accusations without evidence, your cynicism overwhelms you.

Council tax is going up as the cost of delivering services is going up. so what would a Labour Government have done this year to stop the cost of delivering services going up?

It's one lie after another from Labour at the moment. The UK Government in Westminster does not set mortgage interest rates nor does it set the rate of Council Tax. In fact every Labour controlled local authority in the UK increased their Council Tax this year. 1. £500 is an increased cost for a new buyer. It is apparently a cost that is rising by £500 a month, a product of the "crashed economy". 2. Councils set their own council tax, they get their money from three main sources: direct funding from national government (central government grants), is one. So the government does influence the council tax. 3. The government CAN freeze the council tax if it chooses to. Providing it covers the cost to the council. It seems that you are as far out of touch as ever. So Labour would have funded all the extra spending by Councils in the country by providing extra cash from central government - how would they have funded this? Or is this another bullshit lie like they would lock up another 4,500 people without providing any extra prison spaces?

Council tax is going up as the cost of delivering services is going up.Conservative council's ctax is going up too. If you want to know why ctax has skyrocketed for the last dozen years, look at the cut from the central government grant. If you want to know what central government actually thinks of local government, look at the extra services they asked them to deliver during Covid. By and large they've delivered well. (With the exception of the energy rebate, which was a disaster created by central government then farmed out...) So what would labour do about the rising costs of services apart from whistling dixie? We are paying more for less each year in the way of services.

I do think you have trouble reading sometimes. It does state in the attachment that it would be funded by a larger windfall tax on the companies making profits out of the oil and gas.
