Joe Biden has reportedly turned down his invitation to King Charles III’s coronation, which is set for 6 May. The US president is “not expected” to be in the UK for the King’s big day, according to sources who spoke to The Telegraph. The sources, who have reportedly been involved in the discussion with Biden about the coronation, claimed that he will be sending a delegation in his place. However, there is a possibility that the First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, will be in attendance. www.independent.co.uk/life-style/royal-family/joe-biden-king-charles-coronation-b2312119.htmlThis, in my opinion, is because he was forced to wait for a seat at the Queens funeral (because he was late) and he knows he wont be the centre of attention. My thinking is, good I'm glad history will record the fact that Biden, a pro IRA English hater, wasn't present at the Kings coronation.

The coronation ceremony will be conducted by Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury. He, and other members of his family, suffer from mental health problems (so he himself says) and are dependent on psychiatric medication. A couple of years ago, in an article in the Evangelical Times, he said that he speaks, in tongues, to God every day in the privacy of his home ... and that God later replies back through the mouths of those he associates with. It has been reported that Welby has been giving Charles and Camilla "Spiritual guidance" about the significance of the ceremony. Charles' religious inclinations are such that the Buddha might have something to say to Welby.

I think most understand the special relationship to be utter bollox and the reality is they say jump we ask how high. Frankly i don’t give a shit that he isn’t going to be there. And yes, it does mean one less distraction from what the event is actually about.

I know Charles isn't his mum but I think, and in spite of that prat Harry, the British monarchy are still, for the moment anyway, popular in the US.

US Presidents have never attended Coronations - it would have been a break in tradition had he decided to come.

Exactly To say it would be a break in tradition is somewhat overstating it don't you think? I mean, we havent had a coronation since 1953 and how many US presidents were invited to coronations prior to that?

Biden doesn't plan to attend the king's coronation because he has other commitments. He will be spending a week in Ireland to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement in April, and might see the king then. Transatlantic trips take a lot out of an old man, so they only schedule essential travel for him, and, as others have said, there is no precedent for presidents to attend coronations. If he had come to the coronation, you'd be complaining about all the extra traffic his retinue would bring. As it is, the US will be represented at the coronation. "The president has expressed his wishes to "continue a close relationship with the King" as he takes on his new role.
After the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II, Biden voiced his support for the British monarch and "recalled fondly the Queen's kindness and hospitality, including when she hosted him and the First Lady at Windsor Castle last June."
"He also conveyed the great admiration of the American people for the Queen, whose dignity and constancy deepened the enduring friendship and special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom," he shared in a statement from the White House."people.com/politics/white-house-speaks-about-king-charles-coronation/
