Well indeed. The troubles in NI appear to be between the Jocks and the Oirish, for which the English (who by and large don't give a monkey's) get the blame. and also get the bill - if only the Oirish or Jocks would shoulder the cost.. By christ , if England had to pay reparation for 8 centuries of invasion , conquest and slaughter on the island of ireland , you would be bankrupt a thousand times over.
It never dawns on you it was your country that partitioned illegally 6 counties of ireland out of spite , set up a sectarian apartheid state , faced worldwide condemnation for human rights abuses , for which you were fined millions by the court of human rights in europe , and then had to run begging the yanks and Europeans to step in and help you calm the place down and pump vast quantities of american dollars and brussells euroes into the place to help repair the smoldering skip fire you had let burn freely for 30 years of troubles and a century of injustice.
We had tory prime minister cameron send queenie over and beg forgiveness for bloody sunday , when is westmisntr going to make reparations for starving the irish to death and killing half their popualtion .......a crime that was on a par with hitlers gassing of millions of jews?

Sectarianism in Glasgow was worse than Belfast in the 1980's. They were blue or green, it was ingrained from childhood to hate, even in the army I remember two jocks who were initially in the same squadron, had to be separated because one was catholic, the other protestant. They didn't know one another previously, but because of their backgrounds they wanted to kill each other, I didn't understand it at the time. Red. Im a glaswegian. I grew up in govan and paisley in the 80`s , and while there is no doubt glasgow had major problems with knife crime drugs and many other issues , to try and say sectariansim was worse in glasgow than belfast at the height of the troubles is frankly a gross exaggeration.
You must have been listening to danny dyer too much on his football factories programme waffling on abour rangers and celtic.
I mind kevin bridges the glaswegian comedian absolutely taking the piss out of dyers gross exaggeration of football hooliganism at the old firm derby day when bridges said you had wee guys and families walking past dyers camera waving and dyers shouting its all fucking kicking off here.

OK, you will have a better grasp of the situation in Glasgow than me. I have been to Glasgow albeit years ago, and remember very well being told things like, whatever you do don't say you're a Catholic in this pub, (or a Protestant in another) and many Glaswegians I knew in the army, and there were a few, were very vocal about their sectarian loyalties. |
