The following nations will join the European Union in the not too distant future: Serbia, Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro. On the horizon, there are more European nations hoping to become official candidates, and one day join the European Union. Britain is the only nation ever to leave the EU, and it is partly because of some crazy Anglo-Saxon notion that, with the United States, we somehow still rule the world, or that Britain is still some kind of superpower. Our future outside the EU is as a "Not Very Important" lone voice, hanging onto the coat tails of the United States. I wonder how long ex remainers continue will to peddle this nonsense?

Your first sentence here is the real nub of the matter. Brexit supporters had no choice but to go for a quick decisive exit because the UK politicians had refused earlier calls for a slow down. So when the vote went through they demanded an immediate exit. Sadly this has caused many issues that could have been dealt with by negotiation. Cameron carries much of the weight of this on his shoulders for not telling the public about the EU's compromise offers because he didn't want them and hoped and expected the vote would be remain. What compromise? The EUSSR were not satisfied with turning him down they went on to humiliate him. And no I do not hold a candle for Cameron. See if you can find out. It might be interesting to see if you can be bothered to look up something that might disagree with your view.

There must have been an awful lot of leavers who were naïve back in 2016.In using the term "remoaners" you are once again exposing your need to insult people. Now it's the Remnants turn. lol Except for the fact that the deceptions by the Leavers may have done almost irreparable damage to the UK economy and to our standing in the world, definitely not funny.

We voted to leave in 2016. I think most people knew what I meant. Apologies that you couldn't work that out. My point was that from 2016 we began the exploratory process of making our own trade deals Which the UK has done, so what's your beef over the fact apart from crying because the UK left a dictatorship? The EU is a representative Democracy just as the United Kingdom is. Its a shame you don't understand what a dictatorship is.

Many, and maybe most, wanted out a long time before a referendum was called and a long time before Farage or UKIP became involved. We knew what was going to happen, we knew Heath was an arsehole; nothing has changed since that time except we have a bunch of Remnants who didn't like the referendum result and have ever attempted to devise ways rubbish the result.

Its a shame you don't understand what a dictatorship is. That it is called a representative democracy doesn't mean it's a democracy and just to let on, it isn't, not in the case of the EU or the UK.

It is the leavers that have created the present situation. Brexit has rubbished itself so far, we now have no option other than to wait and see how it turns out.

I also thought the EU were trying to humiliate Cameron, they only offered him a Norway deal which meant giving up the veto. Cameron was the only pm to use the veto too to protect our Banking industry like the French did with the CAP.

That it is called a representative democracy doesn't mean it's a democracy and just to let on, it isn't, not in the case of the EU or the UK. It is a form of democracy which so far has kept the UK out of the clutches of the real political dangers of any serious right-wing political takeover.

This latest shambles puts the seal on the fact that acting with regards to the wishes of the British electorate is a bucket of hogwash. The MEPs are no different as they only have to consider the public interest which is whatever they think it is and have to have respect for the reputation of the European parliament.

Go right back to just after the referendum result, start with Gina Miller and then move on to those politicians of all parties who tried suversion as a means of halting or delaying Brexit. Remember when Tusk promised us a Canada style agreement. Then remember how May tried to change the course of history, aided and abetted again by a raft of cross party politicians and then we got Boris, another jerk and Starmer who is no better. I can't say whether Nigel will try to make a comeback in some way but I hope he does and exposes the bunch of nincompoop politians that have adorned this country as far back as I can remember.
