Penny Mordaunt for leader and PM would be more useful.
Perhaps Truss is just hanging on while the party rules on choosing a new leader are revised…

What's the point of a Home Secretary when they realize there's fuck all you can do.
It's clear that every Home Secretary so far has had the stark reality that they have no power to control our borders, they have no powers policing our streets, they basically have NO POWERS.
So what is the point of their position?
A lame duck Home Secretary who absolutely has NO SAY on policing, or Immigration, it's just a made up Job, with a good salary and plenty of perks.

It seems they have power but only to act in a certain way and it is unclear who decides what that certain way is. What is happening is tailor made for a bundle of conspiracy theories and realistically who can deny that they all have legs.

No home secretary to-date has been able to get to grips with policing, particularly in London, where Khan runs the show.
We've seen they are useless when it comes to Border control, illegal migrants are flooding our shores on a daily basis.
We've seen they are useless deporting these illegal migrants, and as far as arresting and bringing these Eco Warrior's before the courts, well it's just a JOKE.
So why do we have a Home Secretary, Why do we have Home Office, what the Fuck is their point, there is none.
Made up jobs, all at the expense of the UK TAX PAYERS, money for OLD ROPE.

Shapps is the new Home Secretary - not sure at all about that. I have to say that Bravermans resignation looked a bit too contrived and convenient...

Allegedly from the Guardian
The departed home secretary admitted that she had sent an official document – a draft written statement on migration that was due for imminent publication – from her personal email to a fellow MP as part of policy engagement, she sent an e-mail to a fellow MP she was working with which is against the rules.
In her brutal resignation letter, which contrasted her actions with those of Truss, Braverman wrote: “Pretending we haven’t made mistakes, carrying on as if everyone can’t see that we have made them, and hoping that things will magically come right is not serious politics. I have made a mistake; I accept responsibility; I resign.
“It is obvious to everyone that we are going through a tumultuous time. I have concerns about the direction of this government. Not only have we broken key pledges that were promised to our voters, but I have had serious concerns about this government’s commitment to honouring manifesto commitments.”

Rats deserting the sinking ship and trying to put as much distance as possible between themselves and it.

Rats deserting the sinking ship and trying to put as much distance as possible between themselves and it. If she had not resigned, she would have bene pushed IMO. I certainly enjoyed what she said in the Commons recently tr the Oil Protesters she was bang on target imo " Yes, I'm afraid, it's the Labour Party, it's the Lib Dems, it's the coalition of chaos, it's the Guardian-reading, tofu-eating wokerati, dare I say, the anti-growth coalition that we have to thank for the disruption that we are seeing on our roads today." The Tories will lose the next election, and Labour will win, which fills me with dread

I think it is quite interesting.
The contrast between her and virtually every Tory all the way back to Michael Howard, who pretty much copyrighted the phrase ‘I have done nothing wrong’ over his fuckups of prison policy when in the original Home Secretary job, the one twice as hard as hers, is stark.
Honestly, when did a front bencher last say “I fucked up. I accept responsibility. I have to go’
Certainly the contrast between her and Truss but also her and Boris who lied his arse off to cling to office, is huge
If I were a cynical sod I’d say she saw an opportunity to make an error many might make in order to make use of the ejector seat the error provided.
