Probably not, but remembering that the licence, AFAIA is for the use of a TV set, not just so that people can watch BBC programmes. Do you know of any available alternatives for the members of the viewing public who would like an alternative?

The BBC are laughing at the people with this insult and the laws that protect it are bad laws. The good news is that people are angry and have stopped paying, which is most likely contributing to the demand to raise the BBC tax.

Several younger people I know do not watch tv much and only online . They don’t pay the licence . The BBC is doomed in the long term imo.

The reason the BBC is funded from the license fee is to enable it to avoid the problem of being controlled by the people who pay the piper calling the tune. The fact that people from the Left and the Right of politics accuse the the BBC of being biased is IMO a pretty good indication that on the whole the BBC do a reasonable job of doing just that. What … being biased? … dissatisfying all factions of our nation … Left, Right and Centre? … just representing Globalist interests is the way many see it these days! … the Piper who normally calls the tune! … Most of us used to pay for the BBC … not any longer since Brexit. Successive Toxic WOKE Guardian Anarchist Management got in there and ruined it badly … ITV, CH4+5 too … f. up the whole cheebang and dumbed it down American-styleee … it’s all celebs and a hint of covert subliminal BLM racism now … even in many ads. Then the Ofwatch Regulators went on holiday for a decade … and now The Monday Club are supping champagne having destroyed The People’s Broadcaster cramming it full of shoe-indiversity candidates with no imagination or talent. Toxic places for indigenous whites who voted Brexit. You won’t get an interview if they get even a sniff you thought Brexit a good idea.🤬🤯 It’s Management’s behaviour after Brexit proved that the Network and Media regulators were determined to provide no discussion platform or programmes for the Majority that wanted to take the Country in a new direction - fast-tracked away from EU broken border policy and the pseudo-democratic sham that was Brussels. Scrapping the BBC tax would be for the greater good. Isn’t that just playing into the hands of the BBC Management CENSORSHIP LOBBY that have worked to destroy the INDEPENDENT/INDIVIDUAL indigenous voice of the British People since we joined the EU? Nobody does ‘censorship’ quite like the snobbish Middle Class Islington Set that has run the BBC for decades. The BBC Management just needs a radical shake-up from decades being prostitutes to EU/Globalist Totalitarianism. Once we see it represents us again … and programmes are worth watching … interesting, educational, more science/technology/history/mysteries and funny … cutting edge funny … and cutting edge challenging … some will come back and support it …it might then survive. We hope so … we desperately need a broadcaster funded in this way. We need to use it to give the anti-democratic, censorship-happy WOKE a good kicking - they destroyed it for many …. they deserve it!

When something is forced upon all people (the BBC tax) and when it is proven that this tax is funding multi-millionaires who are part of a partisan political campaign, then scrapping that tax can only be a good thing. There's been talk about a BBC shake up for years, but nothing ever comes of it. I don't see anything democratic about threats and extortion, which is what people have who disagree with the BBC's narrative. The only people who benefit from the BBC, other than then current Labour supporters, are talentless nobodies who are claiming to fame on the back of a cheap network, who then move onto other networks and things. It's probably why we have so many cringeworthy celebrities in this country.

The BBC should be PAYG, like Sky have Box Office and Netflix where you pay extra for viewing. and that's how the BBC should work.
I hardly watch any of that shite on BBC yet I have to still fund it, forced to pay for a service I don't want.
It should be on subscription, sign up and pay as you go, as far as I'm concerned I would hardly be paying anything because there is fuck all worth watching on it.

Several younger people I know do not watch tv much and only online . They don’t pay the licence . It's true. Two of my kids don't have TV licences, the other one does because their partner demands one. . The BBC is doomed in the long term imo. Although that doesn't follow from the first statement. The BBC could and should be funded from central government. They can then pay for their own propaganda. Most of the best programmes are now on streaming services like Netflix and Amazon, for which no licence is required. It is still a widely held belief that to have a working TV in a house requires a licence. There should be a campaign to let people know exactly what they can watch WITHOUT a TV licence. What is the logic in not being able to watch a repeat programme on ITV, being transmitted live, but being allowed to watch the same programme on catch-up with no licence? What is the logic in being unable to watch Spanish TV live in the UK without a licence, when they don't even have a licence in Spain. I think the whole system is made to be as complex and confusing as possible to scare people into paying for a licence.

Imo if the BBC was government funded then not only would they never pay Gary Lineker the kind of money they do but there would be public outrage if they did ..ironic really.

I agree, I watch the rugby and little else on the BBC, stopped watching BBC news about 4 years ago. Maybe catch an occasional programme on BBC 4 to wallow in nostalgia but I can obviously give that a miss. Tried some of the programmes and the obvious agendas jump out to spoil the show.
