If that pans out, it'd be the first bonus I've come across. I can almost taste those bitter remainiac tears. Pull the other one, Red. You haven't drunk anything that was less than 80% proof in years.

I hate to be a pedant, as you know, but there is no such thing as percent proof. Alcohol is measured either in proof or as a percentage of volume never both. 80 proof is roughly 40% alcohol. Proof was originally a test applied by customs officers where a set amount of alcohol was added to gunpowder and if it still ignited it was considered "proof"ie a spirit.

Fife Foxhounds folded after 267 years in January.

I still don’t understand why it’s OK to kill other creatures when they’re for food or become a pest, and fish, shoot rabbits, pigeons, ducks, deer, geese, and go falcaneering and ferreting, but ban a useful pastime just because some people enjoy it.
I'm not a supporter of cock fights, dog fighting, but understand where some creatures are encouraged because they control other pests — eg, cats for mice and rats, foxes for rats and rabbits, and (it's proposed) wolves for foxes...

It depends how humanely the pest is killed.
What's a fox do that requires chasing it for miles before tearing it to bits ? If it's a pest, just shoot it and be done.

It was 'class warfare' - urban communities flexing their political muscles and urban politicians throwing around distracting red meat.

Bear baiting, badger baiting, cock fighting, and other gratuitously violent past times were banned. Shooting hasn't been.
Humane ways of killing pests have always existed.

Fox hunting was never about culling the population. To successfully cull a species you kill the breeding age females. Hunting tended to kill the elderly and infirm foxes who couldn't escape the hounds. It was always just about the sport and the spectacle. Good riddance to it.

Real hunting is about food. Nobody eats foxes.

The moral arguments are just pretend. We eat animals and foxes are wild animals that themselves hunt. Hunting foxes adds no extra morally.
The whole point of banning fox hunting was to show dominance - to put a boot on another's neck and force them to bend to your will. It's a vote winner because a lot of people get off on it - especially, in recent times, left wing people
