The next general election is now less than two years away, probably 21 months away, and there seems to be no sign of any movement in the polls, with the Labour lead still averaging 20 points. Its worth bearing in mind that a lead of half the present showing would still see a Labour government. It will take much more than some signs of economic recovery to move these figures into a position where the Conservatives can safely go into a general election. I am convinced that for a lot of people its just weariness of 13 years of cuts to public services, a country divided like never before due to Brexit, the state of the NHS, a corrupt and lying Boris Johnson, another leader who almost wrecked the economy, the cost of living crisis and I feel that many people just think its time for a change. Many of us keep asking the same question over and over again, what is a Labour alternative.
Just off the top of my head, I don't know where Labour stand on Brexit, illegal migrant crossing, Covid, inflation, cost of living crisis, energy bill hikes?
Honestly Starmer is running out of steam, he can't avoid these questions until a few weeks before the next GE, keeping his cards close to his chest is not good enough.
He waits to see the flow of the tide then tries to run with it, he sits on the fence, it simply is not good enough for the potential next Prime Minister.
I used to say this, but I have some sympathy with his silence now as quite a few of the things he's tested public opinion on have been nicked by the Tories. I think Labour are now far enough ahead in the polls to keep their powder dry for the main event.

No one knows what the Conservative plans are going into the next general election, none of the partys publish Manifesto's until closer to the general election. However, the Labour Party has issued a Five Point Mission to (1) Secure high sustained growth - (2) Make the UK a clean energy superpower - (3) Make the NHS fit for the future - (4) Make Britains streets safe - (5) Break down barriers to opportunity. Details on the Crime pledge are expected in the run-up to Mays local elections, and detail on the other Mission Statements are expected in early summer. We already know SOME policies, such as the return of railways to state ownership, which is actually very popular amongst the traditionaly Tory voting middle class commuters. And thats why I believe Starmer has a very good chance, because unlike Corbyn, he knows that Labour must appeal not only to its grass roots and traditional voters, but also to Tories who will consider voting Labour.

In reality Labour will most likely push for more illegal wars, more mass-immigration, more forced multiculturalism and all without a mandate from the people. It's what they don't tell you that's important, and you can tell this will happen because the bullshit they're promising is mostly unworkable.

I know what the Tories goal is going to be, they are putting things in place NOW so it will have kicked in by the next GE.
I think they'll have the illegal boat people under control, mortgage interest rates will come down, along with energy bills, inflation will be down, Covid (hopefully) will be under control, Brexit should be well on it's way to be working.
People have short memories, they'll forget about 'these times', if people are feeling good towards the next GE, Labour will be fucked.
Labour will have nothing to offer but 'promises', and people will stick with the Tories.

Telling us what their plans are is no good unless they tell us how they will achieve them. Come the pre-election few weeks, they'll get hammered at the hustings if they don't have the answers.

Now you're comparing chalk and cheese. The public might well cause a panic bank run if persuaded their money will disappear, maybe even through rumour mongering But a pension company would not stop buying government bonds on the basis of a rumour If they thought the rumour was going to interfere with sentiment, yes they would. Further there was no need for any rumour, the facts were out there for all to see. It was you who introduced the concept of rumour. What I'm describing is is influence channels magnifying something that is no consequence so that the fact that it is of no consequence no longer matters. The facts are still available and the facts are still tiny.

Great British Railways is not the nationalisation of our railways, nor will it mean bringing the railways back into state ownership. The franchising out to private operators will remain exactly the same.

If you are talking about Corbyn type Nationalisation then Labour simply will not have the money.

Starmer is relying on the same old fallback, just like the Tories do, but this time it hasn't happened, instead of people running to the so called opposition, they would rather stay at home and ignore the whole thing. There will be no more the people have given us a mandate nonsense, then do as you please with them.

And more nonsense from b4 lol I'm sure he thinks its intelligent. 🤫🤭Going by your rate of failure elsewhere I don't think you're in any position to judge anyone. However, the fact that this is what happened after the last Labour government was elected does explain why Starmer's trolls have lit up and now abusing the messenger.
