Sad stuff.
It looks as though the Nats have bottled out of the referendum and have decided to hunker down and hope for better days.
It makes sense, but not exactly a case of going down with the guns firing and the bands playing.

This is the same inept dummy that has stated that,,,,'SNP hopeful calls for 'Scottish Pound' within MONTHS of independence'..... Based on what exactly?
Let the SNP go ahead , Scotland would be bankrupt the day after.

Ash Regan is insane, I read a readers comment that referred to her as a mlfwit, which made me smile. Kate Forbes, despite proving to be a financial incompetent, does at least come across as not mad, but as a white, hetrosexual femail that disapproves of paedophilia she has no chance. The bloke is a lunatic, standing up in the pretendy parliament reeling off all the top jobs that are held by white people, completely bizarre.
I see NO are sitting at 56%, a higher figure than when Sturgeon took office. Looks like it is all over chaps.

I mean what do you say to this drivel?
I like ash regan personally , and forbes seems very polished despite having a rocky start to her campaign. We can agree humza is of course a clown , so i would have thought you would be cheering him on for obvious reasons.
No om , its only just beginnig.

For what it's worth, Joanna Cherry, who favors Ash Regan, is saying that the 'party machine' is behind Yousaf, but doesn't say why.

I have read that it is thought that Yousaf is the "continuity candidate" because (a) he is a slavish unthinking devotee of Sturgeon and (b) he is the least likely one to open a can of worms over missing money.
I think that Kate Forbes would be your best bet, she would continue to pursue the independence campaign, albeit by putting forward a plan and making a case for independence, instead of just insulting everyone, also she might address the catastrophic failures of the Sturgeon reign on domestic issues. But Yousaf will be the chap, Murrel is counting the votes so put your money on Yousaf, what will be interesting is when he replaces all the "white" people he complained about with his chums from the mosque, grim times. (But not for us of course).

Thanks for that. Most interesting.
A few years ago the DNC, the governing body of the US Democratic party, had two candidates vying for the party nomination for the presidential election. Hillary Clinton was up against Bernie Sanders. Sanders was very popular, but the party elite preferred Clinton, so the DNC tilted the playing field in her favor and she won the nomination. Later, it was found that Clinton had an agreement with the DNC which "specified that in exchange for raising money and investing in the DNC, Hillary would control the party's finances, strategy, and all the money raised. Her campaign had the right of refusal of who would be the party communications director, and it would make final decisions on all the other staff."
Sanders voters were furious. Bernie Sanders and donors filed a class action lawsuit against the DNC in 2017, arguing: “We’re seeking relief in the form of damages; essentially, the return of those donations that people paid to the Bernie Sanders campaign, under the understanding that this was a democratic, free, and fair election process that they were participating in through their donations to the Bernie Sanders campaign.”
"The DNC’s lawyer ... implied that, despite the DNC’s charter and bylaws stating that it must be neutral during Democratic primary contests, there’s no contractual obligation to follow through." “There’s no right to not have your candidate disadvantaged or have another candidate advantaged. There’s no contractual obligation here…it’s not a situation where a promise has been made that is an enforceable promise.”
...and in fact ... "a DNC lawyer said openly that if the party wanted to do things like the old days and pick a candidate over cigars in back rooms, it would be within their legal rights to do so."
While what is happening in Scotland is ugly, unfair and wrong, it is being done elsewhere, which calls into question whether your vote has any value at all.
Why do you suppose the SNP party machine wants Yousaf if he is weak? Will he be a puppet?

Why do you suppose the SNP party machine wants Yousaf if he is weak? Will he be a puppet? I will try and pop in later and give an in depth reply ripley , but om above has basically called it more or less.
Yousaf is extremely weak and of course a sturgeon yes man wihtout an ounce of intelligence or wit. He will of course be a disaster for the snp and the wider yes movement , and the allegation is murrell , sturgeons husband is looking for his man , the continuity candidate to carry on the work and cover up any little discrepancies.
To be honest mate there is so much going on , and so many rumours its impossible to keep up with them all . I personally like ash regan , think forbes is a very good politician but wont further independence much , while yousaf self explanatory will be disasterous.
Joanna cherry as you may or may not know famously fell out with sturgeon and was sidelined by her .
this article is well worth a read as well......

The "anyone but the SNP" vote is far higher than the SNP loony cult vote, every single time. So they can't play that game and win. Time they gave up and left politics to the grown ups.

Interesting reading. Given that all of the candidates are ill-prepared and having to jump in at the deep end, perhaps a 2024 election will bring a better solution. Can you see the independence movement moving towards Salmond's Alba party in the absence of a suitably strong SNP leader?

The "anyone but the SNP" vote is far higher than the SNP loony cult vote, every single time. So they can't play that game and win. Time they gave up and left politics to the grown ups. That argument doesnt compute vinny , and shows once again you have no understanding of scottish politics and the scottish electoral system.
You can be a scottish indy support and vote for scottish indy parties without voting snp. you can vote in scottish elections , which are proportional , and give votes both to the snp and other indy parties if you so wish.
So the anyone but snp vote doesnt necessarily mean a vote for british unionist parties. I suggest as you show such an interest without knowing much about scottish politics ou familiarise yourself with the voting systems in use in scotland.
The third system is of course for your parliament , which is self explanatory , with only 59 current scottish seats being reviewed down further to 57 ( we aim for it to be zero ) out of 650.

Can you see the independence movement moving towards Salmond's Alba party in the absence of a suitably strong SNP leader? Honest answer ripley is i dont know. What i do know is that there doesnt seem to be any great swing back to unionist parties , with the voting base hardening around similar patterns to that in northern ireland ( without of course the sectariansim) between unionist and nationalist.
The pendulum will of course swing either way between either side , as we have seen in recent elections , and of course the infighting among the snp membership does scotland no favours. I think the general consensus is a new national broom needs to sweep clean the damage sturgeon and her clique has done.
The one constant of course that no one can deny is the massive outpouring of pro european sentiment in scotland , with the last poll i saw had 72 % of scots wanting back in the EU. Quite clearly the english and scots politically have completely differing views , and of course the northern irish deal where by they remain in the eu is really angering many pro european scots , against westmisnter.
So its all in the mix , and not looking like going back to the bad old days much to the dissapointment of the anglos .

Course it computes Thomas, but you're in a cult.
You think you can win with 45% of the vote.
You're not looking at the bigger picture, you try to live in a little echo chamber of pro separatist anti English xenophobia, and then get upset when on here you find people who aren't mad cultists.
