We know from other sources there are a few thousand Brits and Americans unofficially helping this war. You'd expect them to put their base in the most secure place that is near to the fighting. Bakhmut appears to be the place they made into a fortress. Why throw so many lives at defending it? This could be why. (strategically important as they say to the proles). |

Being a platform for a cross-section of views … debated openly. The thing to remember about Taiwan is that despite it always being a part of China, it was where Chiang Kai-shek and his men ended up after being fought on the mainland. The reason the party in power ever took the man on was because his government were brutal. This brutality carried on in Taiwan (tens of thousands were murdered) and it was run up until fairly recently by a military style government, like rather than regular police you had army people marching up and down to put the fear into you. The weird thing is that the so-called nationalist government that his people represented when they were in power, actually came to power as a revolt against foreigners taking over China like the Japs and so on. They were the BNP of their day, but paradoxically they are ruled to a large extent by the US and their desire to use it as a military base. The party in power now are the nice guys who would not stand for this brutality. It's a great story though of how good eventually overcame evil. As for the actual citizens of Taiwan, I'd say it is similar to say English and Scottish. The actual people understand their are one of the same, as in Han Chinese . |
