Ventilators were sometimes the cause of patients deaths . They were generally the last resort because initially the doctors in the hot wards didn’t really know what to do with patients who were failing to breathe. Iirc some patients responded better by turning them face down( believe it or not) but I cant remember the details . Ventilators needed oxygen and iirc theatres were used as makeshift ITUs. Anyway you wasn’t always put on a ventilator in intensive care .

For what is worth Proning May Help Avoid Mechanical Ventilation and Intubation in Patients with COVID-19 At Penn Medicine, averting the need for intubation and ICU care is among the objectives for proning in COVID-19 patients. All intubations and ICU care (where patients are on mechanical ventilation) place providers at increased risk for infection by increasing the presence of infectious particles in the air. Awake proning has been shown in a consecutive series from New York City to successfully avoid intubation in 64% of hospitalized COVID-positive patients. [4] “We like to avoid ventilation as much as possible, and though there’s not a lot of evidence to support proning, it has worked in the past,” says Kaytlena Stillman, MD, MPH, of Penn Emergency Medicine, adding that there is still a risk that mechanical ventilation will be necessary despite proning. The indications for proning at Penn Medicine include vital sign and hemodynamic stability, an O2 saturation level of <92% on supplemental oxygen, and a conscious, oriented and responsive patient able to move in and out of the prone position with minimal or no assistance. Patients are in a negative pressure room, closely monitored (including telemetry and appropriate nursing ratios), and re-evaluated at regular intervals. Padding is provided to alleviate pressure point injuries. “The patient must be re-evaluated at regular intervals, and we do remain in the room for the initial proning to see how they will respond,” explains Zaffer Qasim, MD, of Penn Emergency Medicine. “If the patient cannot tolerate the prone position, or has worsening hypoxia, work of breathing or tachycardia, the patient is returned to the supine position and their head-of-bed elevated. At this point, it’s likely that intubation and mechanical ventilation will be necessary. www.pennmedicine.org/updates/blogs/penn-physician-blog/2020/may/proning-during-covid19

And I wonder how many of those who want him back conspired against him?
Bombshell poll finds over half of Tory MEMBERS want Truss to quit with Boris favourite to take over - as Transport Secretary seems to say 'probably' when asked if ministers back the PM Prime Minister Liz Truss is under enormous pressure after her economic plan was almost entirely scrapped New Chancellor Jeremy Hunt threw out 'almost all' of the tax cuts included in her disastrous mini-budget Sunak has denied maneuvering to oust Ms Truss as Prime Minister but a senior source said 'he still wants it'
That makes it about 100,000 people want him back that is 0.06 of the population. Johnson is a liar, sponger, misogynistic racist and people want him back, that's how low we have sunk. Considering the way he put it about, I can't see how anyone can suggest that Boris doesn't like women.
I think the best idea is to leave him alone for a few months, during which time he can recharge his finances with a few speaking tours, then bring him back to number 10.

Of course the real joke is that a PM of the UK could be junked for nothing more than a glass of wine and a slice of cake. The problem is that the UK seems to be going through a particularly priggish phase. The problem is not so much that Boris had a glass of wine and a slice of cake, but that he thoroughly enjoyed the cake and wine.

Who would ever imagine you could lose your job over a slice of cake and sip of wine, if they want us to believe that's why he was ousted then they must think we are daft.
Beergate starmer ate curry and drank beer, so why is he still in his job?
Stinks to high heaven, Boris was the victim of a coup, he became a victim of his own success, something the Tories will struggle to rekindle with the public.

And? Neither were thousands of others, but it didn't mean that they didn't need intensive care. So, the doctors treating his think he might die and don't put him on a ventilator? Why would they not, because he was not going to die, simple really. Johnson lied, again. Oh so you now think you are more qualified than ITU staff. There is no end to your talent is there? I see you never reply to blairs lie....LOL.....How predactable.

Tories themselves have admitted their politically ZERO way of installing a new PM without a General election.
The public wouldn't stand for it! I don't think Charles would either.

Of course starmer had friends in the righ place and even helped shoehorn in the police and crime commissione into the postion in Durham. Who by the way was acussed of attending beergate and has never been proven that she didn't all we have is her word and we all know what lying twats labour are.

Surely the inner sanctum or grandees of whatever body runs the Tory party can make and/or amend the rules for replacing a leader and PM?
The current procedure(s) can't be legally binding, can they?
Besides, if a previous PM gave unlawful advice to the Queen to prorogue parliament, the party must be able to overcome the necessary niceties needed to change leaders...

Bring back Boris, the pound will rocket, and the markets will be in safe hands, look what happens when he's not in charge, if the Tories want to win the next election bring him back, he was voted in by the people and we should have had our say on him going. If i want to watch a remake of nightmare on Elm street i will go for the freddy Krueger version, where do you think you live just replacing one failed leader after another without a election? Chile under Pinochet, you people need to wake up.
