Sukak now officially has 152 votes now.
Boris campaign team claim he has 100 however officially its 55 votes
If it stays the same, Sunak automatically wins the leadership contest and us PM
Bit if Boris does have 100 or more, the Tory membership will decide. Polls show They would elect Boris by a landslide.

Tories need things to settle down after all the recent turmoil. That would not happen if Boris came back. Those who wanted him gone hardly want him back only because the replacement was useless. They rather look for a better replacement.

I wonder why that is?
Could it be they know johnson would win the next UKGE , while sunak gives the wooden starmer and rejoin a fighting chance?

At Handyman I keep hearing that if taxes went up for the rich they will leave this country But no one has posted proof that this would happen . And the way to stop happening is to have a high exit tax i think America does that It has happened here even back in the 60's the Beatles moved their money overseas because they were taxed so much, as did many others who earned big money back then, the rich did the same, some business owners registered their company overseas to reduce their taxes, a few years ago the French put up income tax, within next to no time money flew out of France as did some French citizens, the French soon reduced the taxation levels as their tax revenue fell drastically. It is even easier today to move money to another country, Global companies' if taxed to much can shut up shop very quickly a set up in another country with a lower tax rate, it is fine balance any Government has to make to keep them here and their money

Well as we are going back to the 70's with recessions, inflation, strikes, etc etc - might as well go the whole hog and have punitive tax rates again and watch the rich leaving for sunnier climes.. The Rolling Stones, Sean Connnery, Bowie, Michael Caine all left - I'm getting quite nostalgic..

You both pointed out a few examples when the rich moved out but the reality is a few decades ago when the tax rate for the rich was 50p
The Marjority stayed and paid there Taxes

Boris has withdrawn, Sunak will be the next PM. He was never really a serious contender. Too much baggage.

Now he has to pray that his MPs can keep their gobs shut and not come out without anything racist... good luck with that... I'll give it 3 months before one them uses coconut, race traitor, uncle tom language.

Boris has withdrawn, Sunak will be the next PM. He was never really a serious contender. Too much baggage. Possibly. But it's true to say the parliamentary conservative party were terrified of this going to a party members vote. I wonder what Sunak's team have promised people in return for their support. I suppose all will be revealed when Sunak appoints his cabinet. I'm already hearing that red wall constituencies are not happy at the thought of PM Sunak. It seems the PCP have handed the next election to Starmer and his woke Labour party. You really couldn't make this up.
