Any explanations ? Car manufacturing rose in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 But then fell in 2016, and then fell steep 2017 to 2020, and continues to fallIs this one of the "many advantages" of Brexit ? Easy there is a fucking world shortage of microchips......All the worlds car manufacturers are suffering with that......Is there anything else I can help you with?
There’s a shortage of microchips around the globe at the moment, and it’s having an effect on almost every industry.
The automotive sector is no exception, and car production has taken a massive hit across the world due to the lack of microchips. Why has it had such an effect, though? Read on to find out more.

Barriers to trade are mostly unnecessary, but the UK must be punished for Brexit. Our biggest problem is weak government. The EU are treating us like cunts and our politicians are sucking it up. That is the problem. They are a direct consequence of choosing to leave the EU. There are no measures applied to the UK that are not applied to any other non EU members. If the hardliners had got their way and we'd left with a no deal Brexit things would be even more difficult for us. Talk of ''punishment'' is mere avoidance of responsibility. It's dishonest and transparent. Rubbish. Who's fault is it that 50,000 illegals crossed the channel from the EU last year? The EU/French authorities could stop it, but choose not to because we must be punished for Brexit.

Red Rackham ... "War in Ukraine, covid, and global economic downturn - all because of Brexit?
It's about time you remainiacs stopped blaming Brexit for everything from the crucifixion to covid"
"Global car production hit by 16% fall:" ----------------------------------------
A 16% fall due to Covid and the war in Ukraine ?
Last year the UK manufactured 775,000 cars, and 1.7 million in 2016, I dont make that a drop of 16%
The dramatic fall in UK car production began long before both the pandemic and the war in Ukraine
UK car production has more than halfed

Car factory closures and production level drops whilst we were in the EEC / EU dwarf anything that's happened lately.
Nobody could guarantee that the car industry would be safe with us out of the EU but it wasn't safe with us in it either.

Oh and if the EU was so good for carmakers, why did Saab fail in Sweden ?

I'm not seeing any bitching about the vote 7 years ago. Certainly not in this thread (I just re-read it). What I am seeing is a lot of people avoiding talking about the consequences of the vote. Just like you are doing here. It's not surprising you want to avoid talking about the consequences and some here don't even want Parliament to discuss it but the issues aren't going away no matter how much you ignore them. Consequences of the vote: Democracy. 1,Being outside the single market means no free movement of EU criminals. VISAS mean the workers we do need from abroad can come, without discriminating by nationality. 2, A free trade deal with no tariffs and no quotas. 2a, Sure there's customs clearance checks, but that's not the end of the world. 3, We're doing more trade with the USA. 4, Our carbon footprint has gone down, rather than up.
5, Economic hardships are the legacy of the Covid crisis and the war in Ukraine. Not Brexit.
1, Any noticeable reduction in crime? 2, That's the biggest joke, no one wants to trade with us on better terms than the EU and exports have fallen. 2a, 13% of UK businesses have stopped exporting to the EU because of red tape. 3, Barely. 4, Unrelated. 5, Then why are they higher in the UK than the EU? Did they not have Covid and the Ukraine war over there. In any case our hardships start long before Covid. Please stop gas lighting and admit its failed.

Not in 2016 there wasn't. In 2016 there was a shortage of EU customers.

Because the poster clearly stated car production fell in the UK in 2016. So blaming a pandemic 3 years later is dim even by your standards.
