Britain’s electricity generators have been forced to warm up coal-fired power stations for the second time this winter, due to a lack of wind! With a high-pressure weather system and associated light winds likely to dominate for a few more days, National Grid’s electricity system operator (ESO) said early on Sunday it had asked Drax to start “warming” two of its coal units at its North Yorkshire site and EDF to do the same at its West Burton plant in Nottinghamshire. www.theguardian.com/business/2023/jan/22/coal-fired-power-stations-restarted-again-as-uk-cold-snap-bitesYet eco mentalists insist wind power is the future. Laugh out very fuckin loud.

Could google-- government's latest on tidal energy -- Yes, that ^^ works. "UK government announces biggest investment in a generation into tidal power, kickstarting a new chapter for the UK’s tidal energy industry this will strengthen energy security by adding to our diverse, renewable electricity supply and create jobs across the UK today’s investment in tidal energy further demonstrates the UK’s commitment to build a strong, home-grown renewable energy sector to reduce our reliance on volatile fossil fuels"

The UK was probably already tied up legally with the cooperation with a number of EU countries for supplying energy into a limited market where it was sold at market prices.

Perusing the management team of Aquind is worth a minute or two over a cuppa and a Jaffa cake.

Yes I'd found a reference to that article and have just read it, I think "Not with a bargepole" is appropriate but if there's any outfall regarding the monies passed to MPs, it will be several arrows through the heart of the Tories.

You are not being told the truth ffs. Renewable electricity is very expensive and very unreliable which is why we are being asked to use less. We are on the verge of rolling power cuts because wind power is unreliable, this is why coal plants are on standby.

Everyone is going to have to get used to power cuts due to Net Zero - we simply do not have the generating capacity available to meet the obligations that policy imposes. The amount of extra electrical production we will need simply to run all these heat pumps is way beyond the capacity of the grid - and thats before we start plugging in electric cars.

Please come back after you understand the the cause of the present day energy problems are created by the invasion of the Ukraine and Russia's attempt to control Western economies up against them.
