There wont be soon. Sales of new cars are almost all electric. They are becoming more viable each month. Yes - legislation is being used to force it on manufacturers and the public. There wouldn't be any need to do this if the technology were effective and popular. They do this because they know perfectly well it is a pile of poo in comparison to ICE As I said, its nearly there. New electric cars are viable now. They are still costly, but that's coming down with demand. The only reason sales fell this year is the shortage of chips. My hybrid gives me 168mpg day to day and 54mpg on a long journey in a big luxury car. My sons car (all electric) does 260 per charge and costs equivalent of £2.50 a gallon. These cars are brilliant. Ice cars are cheaper to buy but not to run, the world is changing fast you need to run to catch up. Oh and no one is being forced to buy a new electric car.

As I said, its nearly there. New electric cars are viable now. Saying it again and again doesn't make it the case. They are a pile of junk when compared to ice. They are 'attractive' if your only alternative is a horse and cart, a bicycle or walking.

I'm not the one forcing my neighbours to follow suit and then using their pressured / restricted choice as evidence I'm right The ice car doesn't need the government to force people to buy it. Why? Because it is the most effective technology available.

I've already agreed that it was necessary to push the technology, but now its pretty fab

Indeed. If they were really viable, there would be no need use legislation to force them on an unwilling public . Few people object to (say) EVs on principle, they object because the technology is ineffective. There wont be soon. Sales of new cars are almost all electric. They are becoming more viable each month. Not quite. 32% of new sales are electric, old chap. I've told you a million times not to exaggerate.

Because it is the most effective technology available. It's two entirely separate scenes going on with electric cars. there are the world's top battery electrochemists doing research and then there is the government in Westminster. They do not talk to one another. The money involved in this research is incredible. One firm sold a 10% stake in some battery technology for $10bn. It's bollox in Blighty, but take a look at what is being created in Korea, Japan and China. They are the three top ones, and if i were generous I'd include US research too, but the East is ahead. batteries degrade because they suffer from dendrite growth. There are schemes to stop this happening. If the batteries kept on working we would not have a recycle problem. Also it only needs about a doublijg in performance to make electric planes. These ICE engines will look Victorian by comparison to the new tech.

Does khan know this....Who didn't see this coming!.......Lol....... love my diesel......Ninety percent of the electric cars that have been sold in the UK are still on the road. The other ten percent made it home... It's a car-azy old world: How range anxiety, a lack of chargers and soaring power costs have sent the electric vehicle revolution into reverse with warnings from experts the whole market is 'on thin ice' The government plans to install 300,000 new electric car chargers by 2030 This week, it was revealed that ministers will miss their target by a 20 years Sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans will be banned in the UK from 2030 www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11681341/How-lack-chargers-soaring-power-costs-sent-electric-vehicle-revolution-reverse.html
