If only the OP remarks about Nissan were true They have indeed been in the EV game since 2012 The Leaf is a legend for its lousy range, incredibly made out to be almost twice the real value by the company, who made no provision for cooling so running the car at full thrust for any length of time boils the cells and in short fucks them. If you see one doing 45 on the motorway, this is why. And the reality in regard to recycling ? www.fastmarkets.com/insights/black-mass-value-will-increase-as-recycling-tech-improvesThey still can’t retrieve the lithium. Oh, yeah, almost forgot. The noise that makes them ‘real’ cars Fuck that. It’s SO much easier to make a fucking annoying cyclist history in stealth mode. I think it was either CATL or BYD who have found a way of increasing the performance of sodium batteries to equal or even exceed Li ion. I understand this both makes then cheap and easy to deal with on disposal. This is the main difference between a Chinese firm and a shite Western one. They are really hot on research and acquire many valuable patents. The problem with sodium batteries is they do not like fast charging. The expansion from heat tends to crack them open. The real money now in on Graphene, another Chinese success story now they can produce it commercially.

A question for those happy with or promoting electric cars. How much does it cost to get a special car charger installed at home? Depends on type. The really fast ones about £450.00

Well yes battery cars have improved, who'd have thought it. and recycling, from your own link “The value of black mass depends on what can be extracted from it, which is dependent on its composition as well as the technology used to process it. Lithion’s hydrometallurgy processes enable r ecovery of 98% of the black mass and over 95% of the nickel, cobalt and lithium found in it,” Couture said. Sounds pretty good. But then much more likely that batteries will be repurposed many time first. For what for FS? There is only one company in the UK who are attempting to recyle Lithium Battery's from toy cars...And if you want a real laugh look at the fucking rubbish going to landfill with worn out Wind turbine blades.
Why don't you learn to read moron. I said repurpose, not recycle. Used car batteries no longer suitable for long journeys still hold a lot of power, the repurposing is as household batteries to go alongside you solar panels especially in homes and farms on the edge of the grid. Even more so in countries where the grid is unreliable or non existent.

My figure is from my son who has had one installed. The one that I have came free with my car so I don't know its true cost.

Ok Batteries unfit for vehicles have one of three problems Individual cell failures in a set thereof A failure of the cells to hold their charge over a period of time A failure of the cells to store charge and return it (memory effect, layering etc) I am not in the habit of attempting to buy and use a storage unit that is known to have technical issues. There are multiple YouTube videos covering repairs done by various less than official maintainers who remove / replace dysfunctional cells, restoring functionality. I suspect that any ‘repairs’ outside of such scope, attempting to repurpose / extend the working life of physically less than fully functional units, is going to be an expensive fools errand. But we shall see.

Most modern cars boast that individual cells can be replaced now.

It’s not the lowered capacity I’m concerned about so much as the degree to which energy put in is wasted.
As I said, we will see.

And my link states repurpose.......Maybe it is you whould learn to read........From my link.....'Reuse, Recycle & REPURPOSE is the ethos of Second Life EV Batteries Ltd. We are the first UK company to focus on the sale of second life lithium EV cells & modules for EV enthusiasts, domestic & commercial applications.'
Like many things today it is cost prohibitive to recycle some items and that is also why I brought the huge mountains of worn out wind turbine blades into the equation.
