She did not start the rot. There were idiot decisions made with the economy back in the 60s. In fact the ones who started it were the ones who decided to get involved with WW1. This is the biggest and stupidest decision that has ever been made in this country as far as I'm aware. She did a lot of economic and social damage. What's more NEGATIVE long term damage than selling off our oil and gas, never mind the rest of the family silver that she also sold. Corner shop silliness. I used to believe that, but thanks to the magic of Wikipedia, which is far more comprehensive than you could possibly imagine, I have established our problems go way back, and I suggest looking circa 1920s. It's not only the war, but bad decisions the government took to make us protectionist, and as they did then so all hell was let loose including the side effect of losing our empire. Protectionism is stupid because it is like you can sell the customer any old crap and he will thank you for it, so there is no motive to improve the product. If you do a case study of the technology to do with our motor industry you will see in the 20s there was a lot of invention going on and a lot of competition. As we move to the pre and post WW2 times we see the innovation dropping off, and by the 60s and 70s the designs were decades out of date. We never noticed that they were out of date as we were selling just as many due to protectionism. It was when the Japs got busy post WW2, after they had rebuilt they started competing with out extremely outdated technology. So you see the decisions made which caused the trouble were a long way back. Lady Thatcher was kind of doing the job of the receivers. You can't blame the one who clears up the mess. It was already valueless.

I assumed you were one of the ones voting for the someone else option, since you already explained that you would have voted for Boris had he been included so it made sense. If not, I'm sorry. I don't want to fall out with you but you accused me of having ulterioir motives for not including Johnson and I get the feeling that you have been trying to pick a fight with me over it ever since. It is just a fucking poll. It is not that important. Feel free to do one of your own that includes Johnson if you have a problem with mine, but please do stop trying to pick a fight with me over it, unfair accusations included. I thought we respected each other. I just pointed out what it looked like. Do not worry, srb It did not look anything like you were omitting Boris Johnson for agenda purposes. This was just Steve's imagination. Anyone with any common sense would know you would not do anything to support Boris Johnson, as you only have to read your posts, not least your OP on this thread, to know you are not a Tory party or Boris supporter. I voted for Tony Blair

SRB was right to omit the most recent. How can we judge? The country was screwed long before Johnson. You see the problem with including the most recent it is would skew results. People forget about the others.

If the NHS was in the state it was when Tony Blair left office
If both the National Debt and borrowing was what it was when Tony Blair left office
If growth was what it was when Tony Blair left office
if poverty was at the same level as when Blair left office
If the state of public services were what they were when Tony Blair left office
If standards of living was rising, like when Toby Blair left office, instead of falling.
In all honesty I cannot think of one area of British life which is not worse off now, I wish the Blair years would return, because the state our country is in now is shocking. But only two more years ... Thank God

I reckon I have enough credit on my cards to be generous for a while but the problem is that I will still be there when the money runs out. NL didn’t have that problem. Iirc the UK wasn’t swimming in cash when NL lost office.

Of course it was a joke, everyone knew what had happened. Unfortunately the Tories and their various mouth pieces could not miss the opportunity to blame Labour. They had been shitting themselves for years trying to stop NL, the international meltdown was almost a god send to them. Just to show how good NL had been and despite all the insinuated lying against them, the Tories still couldn't win the election outright.

Latest polling - fieldwork on 24th January, could be whats known as an "outliner", but still staggering numbers. The Tories are well and truly F***ed. Will Sunak jump, or will he be pushed. When will Red Wall Tories jump ship, when will panic set in.

They were in office and oversaw the system that placed banks in the position that failing was a bigger problem to us than to the shareholders of the banks.

The most negative impact on the country are people who squander their free education, and then make little no attempt to better themselves once they are adults. The fact that 64% of adults are fat fucks doesn't help either.
