Britishness is national not geographical. Scotland is a made up invention. Britain is an island nation. Hi vinny What difference to any situation or outcome do you think your statements make, Are they supposed to make a difference? - this is a discussion forum not a legislature.

Hi John. Oh no! You have rumbled me - although it was not very intuitive of you not to have worked that out for yourself. At least Morayloon the Moderate, bless him, demonstrated some surprising awareness. Anyway, I cannot tell a lie. I was on the old site. My name back then was Balmaha. I did not twig till yesterday. The posts to YCOP. I did rumble. I posted it yesterday. Only after ML pointed it out. Now as I recall you went on a rant you were going to go for the SNP. But you came away with utter nonsense when you took into consideration something or other regarding the ferry fiasco. How Scotland will fall to bits and never recover again. Could you enlighten me what the expression of that something was again. I cannot recall the expression. As a point of interest. Why change your name. You are a Unionist out and out. What's the problem. You have every right to hold that view. So is D.Ross. Yeh.. Well I can see your problem. As you cannot tell a lie, You do know his own party are trying to dump him. Would you really in all honesty. Like to see that complete moronic clown as First Minister of Scotland. He makes Corbyn look brilliant. You do know the Branch Office have been instructed to destroy the Scottish Parliament. It seems they are about to succeed in destroying themselves. I think the technical expression is. The plan has back fired. Oh dear, it is so easy to yank your chain that it is almost cruel to do it. I was not Balmaha - but the guy who really used that name on the old site is on here; not just this forum but on this thread and, as far as I can see, on just about every other thread that you are on. Perhaps you should ask him why he changed his name too. In fact, I am pretty sure (and have good reason to believe) that everybody on this site used to be on the old site, and a big chunk of them have changed their names too. Maybe you should ask every other name that you don’t recognise from the old forum why they decided to do so as well. Hadn’t you realised all of this before now and worked out who they were back on the old site either...not even those who you shared threads with day in and day out for months or maybe years? With anybody else that would flag up a big question mark over your powers of deduction, but I already know enough about them not to be in the least bit surprised by this. Of course, maybe you have trouble even remembering the old names in the first place, just like you obviously had trouble remembering mine or remembering actual details about me but instead filled that void with an imaginary profile of me that is nowhere close to my actual political leanings. I am not a unionist and, much like Nicola Sturgeon, I despise the Tories - so no, of course I don’t want D.Ross as FM.. I am also generally comfortable with Nicola Sturgeon’s capabilities (although these are on the wane) and politics - except with her obsession with independence. I am opposed to independence for one reason and one reason only, but it is a big one ie. I believe that it would be financially disastrous for me, for my family, and for the vast majority of the Scottish people for decades, if not generations. That’s a pretty good reason to oppose something, don’t you think? Picture the Truss disaster budget, multiply the effects by 5 or 10, and instead of the deep impact lasting for a couple of months think at least a decade with the 2nd phase being a bit less bad but lasting even longer. I am amazed that there is a hard core of members on here who have either kidded themselves on about the amount of damage that they would inflict upon their fellow Scots, or who recognise the damage that this would bring to bear on us but don’t care because they must have independence at any cost. As for the ferry fiasco, I think that I only ever submitted one post on that but you created a myth around me and that subject, where you falsely remember my repeatedly posting and bitching about it. The monies squandered, the time lost and the damage to communities and businesses has been pretty shocking. However, every government gets things wrong and cost their electorate money, certainly any government that has been in power for 15 years. So, for me, it is not nearly so much about the cost of this fiasco but the nature of some of the front end design concept decisions and many of the non-technical issues that caused it to happen that point to sheer recklessness, heavy-handed political interference, neglect of duty of care and, quite possibly, corruption. These all ultimately go back to ScotGov so we should be worried about its competence and its character and integrity based upon what we have seen on this project. Oh, and the reason that I changed my name on here...I don’t know, but why not?

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, known as Britain for short, is on the map, is our island, and part of Northern Ireland. And the loyalists in Northern Ireland regard themselves as British as well.
You are British. You always will be.
I am British. As much as you protest, you're in a minority. 2 million people keep out voting you.
You have no mandate to break away and no legal avenue to either. Push too far and devolution will end with a reinstatement of direct rule from London.

You've ticked all the boxes of some of the union supporting nuts that I take great care to now avoid this subject - except one. Maybe you have ticked that particular box in a post before I joined. I'm going to call it the XXX factor. If you ever play that particular card, I'll let you know. Meantime, do you know you just repeat the same points over and over? As if repetition will give you some sort of power

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, known as Britain for short, Its known as uk for short. You cant get much shorter than two letter.
There is also a britian in north west France , so thats quite confusing.
Britain/Great britian is one geographical island. The uk is a state that spans two islands ,one part of which is on the island of Ireland.
of course as i will always be geographically european. What s your point?
Thanks for your input vinny. You do realise scot indy supporters are trying to end devolution as well?

Oh, and the reason that I changed my name on here...I don’t know, but why not? Og dear so you are a liar. You are not yanking my chain. You are making a clown of yourself. Why did you say you are Balmaha. And now you are telling me you are not the guy who used the term Risk Assessment. I suspect you are whatever name you used. So what was your name on the old forum. Or is that a difficult question. Reading your chain yanking is exactly the same as his. Heard all this crap before. As you try to weasel out answering questions which you are 100% incapable of doing. It is not going to work. You made the statements, now clearly a liar. You back them up. So who is this guy who is Balmaha if it is not you. And yes you are a Unionist out and out. So why are you yanking your own chain trying to convince others something you clearly are. You make that clear. Now tell me how would it be financially disastrous for you and your family. What exactly do you call it now. Being between the 28th and 38th Richest country in the world. That matey is third world. You have had the links which you confuse with the word Largest. And you have failed to correct one word. And yes I know every Government gets things wrong. Not like the wankers in Westminster. All the figures are there. Such as how rich it is. Including the worst performing economy in the G7. Beaten only by Russia. Or are in you in denial with that. With the worst pension in the developed world. Or are you going into denial on that. Which you totally ignore. The ScotGov having underspend. Which you go into denial. Literally ranting idiotic garbage otherwise. As you rant it will be economically disastrous for Scotland to leave the UK. But cannot supply one jot of evidence. You have been given plenty of evidence why you should leave the UK. So how about using the Risk assessment, that you say was not yours, and tell me how you arrived at your conclusion. Take your time. Now speaking of yanking chains. You still have not pointed out one UK Court, one UK police Officer, One UK prison. Or what UK law would allow me to be dragged into bankrupt England if I committed some sort of shall we say discretion in Scotland. Nor have you told me how the Scot Gov did not underspent and so on. Indeed it is up to you why you changed your name. So who were you. And why did you make yourself a liar in the process. All are very simple question asking for answers on what you posted. I have told you several times. When you post something. Be in a position to back it up, and when in a hole stop digging. You are 100% wrong, know it but do not possess the brains to stop.

Thomas, there aren't enough of you to ever succeed at achieving your goals. But there are enough unionists to abolish the Scottish Parliament. Push us, it'll happen.

As Morayloon is into his history (and it's a fascinating subject) I've been looking into Scottish history myself. At one time all of Northumberland a large part of Lancashire and even Doncaster in South Yorkshire were under Scottish control. There was a peace treaty between King David and King Stephen in 1136 ceding Carlisle, Cumberland, large parts of Lancashire and also Doncaster to the Scottish King. The treaty has never been repealed. Technically speaking, these territories are still Scottish on paper. Will the Scottish Parliament correct the oversight and offer these territories a constituency boundary for an MSP ? We should demand Calais back from France, Then those poor refugees wouldn't have to risk crossing the Channel in leaky dinghies to claim asylum.

There's no treaty basis for doing that.

Perhaps not but it was English territory for over 300 years. It would save the French all the hassle of trying to contain our refugees too. It's no less ludicrous than giving Doncaster back to Scotland and it would solve a lot of problems.

It's no less ludicrous than giving Doncaster back to Scotland and it would solve a lot of problems. Ludicrous is the word monte. I appreciate viny is emotional about scot indy , but we really are in the twilight zone on this.
Doncaster , irrespective of what treaty said what, is not and never has been scottish. Its an english town , with english history , that potentially belonged to a scottish medieval king for something like two decades before the treaty was reversed.
If we ludicrously went down vinnys route , we could and would open a can of worms across the world .
Upon digging into history , we could probably find brief treaties that have never been repealed across the world that would laughably open claims over territories across the world.
FFS what next? Is glasgow to be handed back to Italy because of some ancient proclamation of Antonius pius? The romans abandoned the wall , as they later abandoned what was to become england , yet never officially gave up claims that Britannia was part of their empire as far as im aware.
Of course its ridiculous , like much of what vinny writes on scottish threads.
