This is a about the 4th or 5th different job Reeves surposed to have why wasnt this jumped on pre election Fair question, I suppose it's because a chancellor attracts more scrutiny than a shadow chancellor. And when journalists and the media discover the chancellor has been economical with the truth they tend to dig deeper. Indeed. A shadow chancellor has very little power whereas a chancellor has a huge amount. it makes sense ( for her enemies)to sit on anything that would harm her reputation until it does the maximum damage . |

So how much extra did you pay this financial year over and above what is required? I didn't take a salary this financial year. I gave my staff pay rises and in these difficult times took a hair cut myself. And no I don't get dividends as I don't approve of tax dodging. And as explained to Bentley it can't be done by a few altruistic people who love their country making donations What can’t be done ? I never raised any point about what ‘ can’t be done ‘ for you to explain. You are making things up to virtue signal about again . |

Give yourself a biscuit for the use of strawman along with a nice virtue signal and maybe address the point made . You want billionaires to give up what they don’t need but you don’t . You say that you would happily ( be forced to) pay more tax but you could give more wealth away anyway . I take it you wouldn't pay more tax, but I would. The argument that I could donate more is pointless, it requires everyone who can afford it to be MADE to pay more because the greedy out weigh the altruistic a thousand to one. I want those with ability to pay without suffering to pay more. Its a well known principle called progressive taxation. I do not share your view that a billionaire would suffer if they were asked to pay a £100million more. They would still have £900million to live on. The wealth gap is gross in this country. Why is that? I never said I would or wouldn’t because I’m not the one saying that billionaires should give up what they don’t need and isn’t giving up what I dont need. You,are merely diverting attention of your own hypocrisy at me . The argument that you could donate is a good one . You trumpet that you would pay more tax if you were forced to but won’t if you have a choice . If Xi offers to build the infrastructure for UK net zero can you see Starmer turning that down ? Indeed, and as this is going on, von der Leyen is kicking up fresh shit, telling the EU that it is cheaper to import LNG from the US than it is to get it from Russia. This is against the fact the US was charging 4x the price. Thank god we are out of it. President Xi also probably has a fondness towards Lammy for saying Trump is a Nazi. The US, EU and China want to shaft us Maybe China is the only one who will use lubrication and still love us in the morning 😁 The BBC just ran a report as well and added in some comment from the Chinese side. It's looking like a success and we just have to hope Starmer hates Trump enough so he refuses to be drawn into the US sanction war. President Xi is talking about financial services as well. I think the idea is Chinese corporations want to delist from Wall Street, and they would rather like it if the UK would serve as a friendly country to set up their financial operations. If Trump is going to act the arsehole towards us, we might as well beat them. Another area is cooperation in science. AI is particularly important if you want to revive UK manufacturing. You need the AI to drive the robots. The UK is 3rd in the world and China is second. You get the idea. Reeves will be going over there to chat with their economics minister.
