I bet they are, they can well afford to retire early and put their feet up, thanks to Labours ridiculous contracts that gives them £120,000 a year, guaranteed, and that does not include the private work GPs have, private care homes, and other sidelines. So how do you think you can force them to take lower salaries when they can go off to Oz or BUPA and earn more? It looks like you want a monopolistic employer to unfairly exploit a monopoly. Well that would be to act badly and unless you nationalise BUPA etc and seal our borders, fruitlessly. Behave, even when I was a kid Doctors weren't on that much, and you could ring them up 24 hours a day for a call out, they worked bloody long hard hours, and most of them retired when they were old codgers, because they couldn't afford to retire on their money.
How different today, they lazy arse bastards don't want to leave home, they want to WFH doing telephone consultations while raking in £120,000 a year for sitting on their fat lazy holes at home watching Netflix while scoffing cheese and biscuits swilled down with glasses of wine.
They are lazy fuckin bastards, and they are treating patients with utter contempt because they know they will get paid come what may, just like footballers they get the same amount of money if they play good or play bad, if GPs were paid on a performance related pay they'd be lucky to take home £10,000 a year, never mind £120,000.

lol don't make us laugh
The only time they move off their lazy arses is to do their private work, their NHS pay is safe £120,000, thanks to Dickhead Blair.
Sure they'll run to their private care homes or private practices to top up their NHS pay, and fools like you feel sorry for them lol
Oh and BTW I was a kid in the 70s, don't be getting me mixed up with your childhood era.

Officially GP's are not part of the NHS, they are private independent contractors that are the gateway to access the NHS as and when we need it , what they earn depends if they are salaried or a partner in a practice, as I understand it they are paid a set fee by the NHS for each patient they see. Lesser experienced GP's earn about £60.000 a year , some can and do earn £200,000 a year if they are partners in more than one practice and see an awful lot of patients both NHS and or Private. www.healthjobs.co.uk/blog/the-gp-salary--and--pay-guide

Exactly mate, this is down to the NHS mismanagement they have known this was going to happen years ago. We have a national skill shortage as the usual would rather give preference to cheap foreign labour than support our own workforce. Yes we have a national medical skill shortage and it was your friends in government that created it. And whatever the cause, if you have a shortage the dumbest thing you can do is think you can fix it by underpaying staff and lying about supposed independent pay reviews that weren't. The harsh truth here is your choice of government really doesn't care if us plebs die waiting for ambulances, GP appointments, A&E admissions etc because they and their mates will in no small part be using private healthcare. We have a national skill shortage. But according to you that sets the the GOING rate.Telll me oh wiseman how the fuck does that regulate the GOING RATE? We have a shortage of ALL skills. Take my trade for example the rate down here for brickies is £600 to £700 per day and this is a LOW INCOME area. Let’s not even mention Plumbers, Sparkies, Carpenters etc etc. Your beloved EUSSR has been thrusting cheap labour to our shores who have HELD our own workforce back. This is NBOT something that has just occurred and the NHS wankers who think they know best have ignored the FACT that this problem has been a long a long time coming and have did jack shit to face the problem head on. Along with the usual lefty woke college of nursing who would rather fuck around with gender issues than sort out the real problems facing the fucked up NHS shortages. Which BTW they have created. Do you require YET another sniff of your NOX as your lickle bullshit left red triangle can’t be played here?

The NHS as many know is badly run very inefficient long before the Pandemic arrived and the huge demands put on by an ever rising population and people living longer
The wages bill for the NHS is extremely high over a million people work within the NHS, people leave the NHS all the time , be they Medical or Non Medical Staff, many of the nursing staff have left due to burn out stress issues, some will seek employment in Private Hospitals, some may just retire or go back as Agency to earn more or just walk away.
We cannot replace Nursing Staff quickly because it takes three years to train a Nurse from scratch, then it takes more years of study and experience to work their way up the ladder, its a never ending story

THere is no going rate, which is why no one can supply one. Every job has a different going rate made up of; Education level needed, skills needed, hours required (Shifts, night, day) job desirability, stress and responsibility. No two jobs are the same. Most NHS staff I now want the pay rise as compensation for the stress involved in the job. If you made the job more pleasant you could get more applicants without offering more pay. At the moment nursing has such a bad reputation very few people want to do it, worse still once the reputation is earned every little thing that happens is seen as another sign of how dreadful the job is. Most people in the PRIVATE sector have stressful jobs. But unfortunately they can’t have time off and still get full pay. The private sector is just as affected by my list as the public sector. And the wages have to reflect the difficulty in filling the posts. And I'm not sure who you've worked for, but I have given many good staff time off on full pay. For everything from getting a divorce to moving house.

(Actually, the stats show minimal effect, but that's by the by.) You are now arguing against wage rises where we have shortages in recruitment. But I thought that was what you voted for? 🤔

This gets the prize for NON ANSWER OF THE MONTH. I did answer. So YET again I will ask you what is the problem? No you didn't. My question was about you getting what you wanted from the loss of FoM and then moaning about it. I don't think you even realised what the question meant.
