the average pensioner’s net income increase by £510 a year since 2010.Welfare reforms made over the same period mean that working households with a child are down £375 a year. This is despite the fact that the number of pensioners in poverty (18pc) is well below that of the population as a whole (22pc) or children, almost a third of whom are below the poverty line. Of cousre the state pension enough British society has been known for its cruelty throughout the globe, there are lines that have been drawn which you cannot step over, you are sailing very close to the wind.

How many years of annual erorision ? Even under the new labour years the state pension wentsavings 50% You are not making any allowances for inflation which also affects the limited savings of many pensioners. The triple lock was introduced because Pensions were not keeping up with wage increases. Take a 2% annual rise on a pension against a 2% annual rise on a £25,000 salary and the problem is easily seen. Talking about savings most are kept in tax free isa accounts and inflation over a few decades now have been histolically low 2-3% .has intrest rates rise so do the interest on savings

In the late 80s bank rate was well over 10%. Now stop talking even more bollox.

And most of the less well off pensioners have ?? I see you ignored the point I made.

New Labour introduced the triple lock on pensions because of the errosion taking place. Complete fiction ^ The Tory/Lib Coalition introduced the triple lock after turfing Labour out Yes my mistake, 2010 after NL had been lied about and lost the election. (Helped by Brown's lack of Charisma). "As research commissioned by former shadow chancellor John McDonnell recently showed, the UK state pension is more than £50 a week lower than it would be if Margaret Thatcher hadn’t broken the earnings link in 1980 – the UK has one of the least generous pensions in Europe." So Tory Lib Dem corrected a Tory created problem. That'll do for me.
