I say them on pension imcome of more the 50, 000 per year should be means tested But then as nobody votes for any of you, but a very, very small minority, I wouldn't get carried away with picking on pensioners because they don't vote liebour.

No It lie with who ever was in governance and with the grey vote i cant see any party having the balls to sort it out.

If only people had continued to die aged 70. If only they had rejected all those new expensive drugs and treatments that keep them alive. But its not too late. Let them know you don't want any cancer you get treated with gene technology or the new chemo drugs. Just say NO to this waste of your National insurance payments, Tell them they are for your pension, not your life.

Everyone wants more from the pot, but no one wants to put more in.

All it will take is a few more years putting pensioners into the ‘ benefit parasite ‘ drawer and it might become NHS policy to either restrict or coerce pensioners into restricting treatment l

A pure annuity passes the risk of living long to a large organisation able to manage that risk A pure drawdown keeps the risk on the individual. Historically most drawdowns have been OK as the underlying fund has grown faster (or at least sufficient) to maintain the drawdown in real terms. But that is by no means guaranteed. I’m working a job to keep my small drawdown in the pot. The later I leave it to put into an annuity , the larger the annuity. You can index link the annuity but afaik it makes it far smaller in the first place . When you look at the crystallised drawdown pot the you need to take 20% off most of it and consider how inflation is going to eat into it. A big pot becomes much smaller. There is no guaranteed best option but looks like you are reducing the risk to you and (ultimately the state to underpin) with a hybrid approach. Good I'm getting mixed results, some of my pensions have been winners but the one that's not properly inflation linked clearly looks a bit sus now.
